East Bijou is a 320-acre private property outside of Limon, Colorado, offering an opportunity for DIY dove hunting. As a DIY hunt, hunters are expected to bring their own gear and their own plan - lots of success has been had out here in the past with simple setups: a few spinning wing decoys and even still decoys seem to do a great job. However, the way the property is set up, all styles of hunting can be successful, as long as the property is used responsibly and the land is respected. This land has been well taken care of and we intend to keep it that way, so the opportunity here remains available for seasons to come. Please pack out all trash and spent shell casings during your hunt here. Camping is not allowed on the property, but lodging can be found in Limon for any extended hunting trips. Jumping Cow SWA is in close proximity to our property and can be added into your trip if you obtain the proper permits to hunt there. We are located only an hour from Denver, which makes this a very convenient day trip. We hope you enjoy our property as much as we have over the years.
This property offers a natural combination of habitat features that make it well-suited for dove hunting. It sits along East Bijou Creek, with the tree-lined creek bottom providing roosting and loafing cover that draws birds throughout the day. Both mourning doves and Eurasian collared doves are present in this area. Colorado sits squarely in the Central Flyway, which puts the eastern plains in a prime position to intercept birds during peak migration. This area of Colorado holds one of the largest concentrations of mourning doves in the country, and also provides annual residency to large numbers of Eurasian collared doves, which can be hunted year-round. Both species are drawn to areas where water sources are located near feeding areas, and this property's combination of a stock tank, creek bottom, and adjacent hay field checks all of those boxes.
Reservation fees are due at the time of booking and are non-refundable. The outdoorsman fee will automatically process 48 hours prior to the adventure - it is the responsibility of the party organizer to ensure each guest is added to the adventure 48 hours or more prior to the hunt, so charges may process accordingly.
For waterfowl, fishing, and other small game adventures, cancellations made 48 hours or more prior to the scheduled adventure will not be charged. Cancellations made within 48 hours of the adventure will be charged the full outdoorsman fee.
If there is a lapse in availability, please do not be discouraged to reach out to IO. All calendars are set and managed by landowners, and unavailability is set by them. However, IO is willing to reach out on your behalf, to check on available dates. Other reasons for unavailable dates include biologist recommended hunter/harvest quotas that landowners implement, as well as state season dates not being released.
You are not legally allowed to access the property, for any adventure, prior to your selected access day. If you try to access the property at all before your selected date(s), without prior approval from IO, you will be subject to trespassing and punishments therein
