WhitetailThis whitetail property near Langford, South Dakota offers a classic Midwest deer hunting experience. With a mix of cornfields, wetlands, brushy draws, and a strong north–south treeline, the habitat provides everything whitetails need including cover, bedding, food, and travel corridors.
The crop rotations and standing cover throughout the season keep deer active on the property. Bucks can often be seen working field edges in the evenings, while does and fawns hold tight in the shelterbelts and wetland cover. During the rut, the treeline and brushy strips act as natural funnels, concentrating deer movement and giving hunters excellent opportunities for mature bucks on the move.
Access is straightforward with gentle terrain and multiple approaches that allow hunters to slip in quietly. Whether you prefer spot-and-stalk, hanging stands, or ground blinds, the property offers plenty of setups for both archery and rifle hunters.
Located in South Dakota’s whitetail-rich farmland region, Hickman Dam East delivers consistent action throughout the season. With abundant habitat diversity and lightly pressured acres, this property provides exactly what DIY hunters look for: room to roam, predictable deer patterns, and a real chance at a trophy buck.
Hickman Dam East features a diverse blend of row crop agriculture, brushy shelterbelts, wetlands, and treelines that create ideal conditions for whitetail deer. The corn and grain fields provide dependable food sources throughout the fall, while the wetlands and thick brush offer bedding cover that holds deer tight during daylight hours. A long north–south treeline serves as a natural travel corridor, making it a high-percentage location for stand sites during both archery and rifle seasons.
This property’s mosaic of cover types and open feeding areas encourages regular deer movement across the acres, with deer frequently traveling between food, water, and bedding areas on a daily pattern. The combination of secluded wetlands and field edges also makes the property particularly effective during the rut, when bucks cruise natural funnels in search of does.
The mix of habitat ensures year-round use by whitetails, with reliable opportunities to intercept deer as they transition through the property.

If there is a lapse in availability, please do not be discouraged from contacting Infinite Outdoors. Some landowners have not opened their land for reservations yet. The other reason properties might be unavailable is because we work directly with our landowners and hunts are booked by quota set by our biologist for the current year. That being said, we are willing, and able in most cases, to pre-book you for next season. OR book you in place of someone else canceling their reservation.
You are not legally allowed to access the property, for any adventure, prior to your selected access day. If you try to access the property at all before your selected date(s), without prior approval from IO, you will be subject to trespassing and punishments therein.
