Hartsel Ranch is a DIY pronghorn property that falls within GMU 58 and 581, just outside of Hartsel, Colorado. This is a buck only hunt, so if you're interested in a doe hunt, please use the doe only listing also found on the IO platform. All licenses - archery, muzzleloader, and rifle - in this area are valid in both units, so no need to pick one or the other. Hartsel Ranch offers just over 1,200 acres of private land to hunt but also borders nearly 3000 acres of Colorado public lands. This will increase huntable acreage during your adventure but also creates surrounding pressure from public hunters that tends to push game into the private boundaries - a nice bonus. Please be sure to check the Infinite Outdoors map for 'No Hunt Zones', as there are lodges and structures on site that need to be avoided, and no firearms should be discharged near them. All access is on foot only, so plan to park at the designated areas and hike in from there.
Hartsel Ranch sits within the South Park basin, home to one of the most unique pronghorn herds in the entire country. The herd here holds the distinction of being the highest elevation herd in Colorado, occupying a high elevation grassland steppe ecosystem - a far cry from the typical shortgrass plains hunting most pronghorn hunters are used to. The terrain across Hartsel Ranch is relatively flat and open, making for excellent glassing country and classic spot and stalk opportunities. The multiple channels of the South Platte River that wind through the property provide consistent water sources, which are a major draw for pronghorn throughout the season - especially during the warmer months of archery and muzzleloader seasons when natural water is key to patterning animals. All tags in this unit are draw only, which keeps hunting pressure in check and allows bucks to reach maturity. The rut in this area runs from early September through mid-October, so no matter what tag you have in your pocket you'll have an opportunity to catch bucks actively moving and chasing does. The property borders public land which will receive hunting pressure and push pronghorn onto private boundaries throughout the season.
Reservation fees are due at the time of booking and are non-refundable. 50% of the outdoorsman fee will automatically process 2 weeks after the Colorado draw results post, or immediately upon booking if the hunt is booked after draw results are out. The remaining 50% will automatically process 1 month prior to the adventure.
For big game adventures, cancellations made prior to placing a deposit will be handled immediately with no penalty. If a cancellation is requested after a deposit has been placed, Infinite Outdoors will make every effort to reschedule the hunt for a different season or a future year. Refunds are not guaranteed once a deposit has been placed.
If there is a lapse in availability, please do not be discouraged to reach out to IO. All calendars are set and managed by landowners, and unavailability is set by them. However, IO is willing to reach out on your behalf, to check on available dates. Other reasons for unavailable dates include biologist recommended hunter/harvest quotas that landowners implement, as well as state season dates not being released.
You are not legally allowed to access the property, for any adventure, prior to your selected access day. If you try to access the property at all before your selected date(s), without prior approval from IO, you will be subject to trespassing and punishments therein.
