Hickman Lake Whitetail is 508 acres of private deer ground near Langford, South Dakota, in Marshall County and East River deer Unit 48A. Your booking is exclusive, so your group of up to four hunters has the property to itself.
This is classic northeast South Dakota farm country. Rotating corn and soybean fields feed deer all season, while wetlands and brushy draws give them quiet places to bed. A wooded stretch along the west side holds does and fawns when pressure builds, and bucks work the field edges in the evenings. Once the rut kicks in, that treeline and the west woods funnel movement between bedding and feed.
Getting in and out without spooking deer is easy here. Multiple approaches let you play the wind, whether you are slipping into an evening sit on a field edge or a morning setup along the timber.
Rifle licenses for Unit 48A come through South Dakota's East River deer draw, which is open to residents. Bowhunters can hunt with a South Dakota archery deer license: residents buy over the counter, and nonresidents apply through the nonresident archery draw. Britton and Aberdeen are your closest stops for lodging and food.

Whitetails on this property follow a predictable daily loop. Wetland edges and brushy draws serve as both bedding and staging cover, sitting right next to the crop ground where deer feed in the evening. The corn and soybean rotation, plus standing cover left on the landscape, keeps the food source steady from early bow season into the late rifle season.
The west-side timber is the property's anchor. It gives deer security cover close to food, and during the rut it concentrates buck travel along the treeline. Hunters who set up on the transition between timber, brush, and field edge put themselves where feeding, bedding, and rut movement all overlap.

Unit 48A covers Marshall County. Rifle deer licenses are issued through the East River Deer draw, which is open to South Dakota residents, with 500 any-deer licenses allocated to the unit for 2026. Leftover licenses, when available, are offered in later draws. Nonresident bowhunters apply through South Dakota's Nonresident Archery Deer draw. Check current license types, deadlines, and draw results at gfp.sd.gov before booking.

Reservation fees are due at the time of booking, and are non-refundable. 50% of the outdoorsman fee will process 2 weeks after the draw results in this state are posted. If you are unsuccessful in the draw, reach out to IO and the situation will be handled accordingly. The remaining 50% will process 1 month prior to the hunt. All OTC hunts will require a 50% deposit of the outdoorsman fee at the time of booking as well. The remaining 50% will process 1 month prior to the hunt.

Cancellations made prior to placing a deposit will be taken care of immediately. Any cancellations needing made after placing a deposit will result in attempts to reschedule the hunt for a different season, or a different year. Please note that refunds are not guaranteed.

If there is a lapse in availability, please do not be discouraged from contacting Infinite Outdoors. Some landowners have not opened their land for reservations yet. The other reason properties might be unavailable is because we work directly with our landowners and hunts are booked by quota set by our biologist for the current year. That being said, we are willing, and able in most cases, to pre-book you for next season. OR book you in place of someone else canceling their reservation.

You are not legally allowed to access the property, for any adventure, prior to your selected access day. If you try to access the property at all before your selected date(s), without prior approval from IO, you will be subject to trespassing and punishments therein.

After your hunt, you will receive an automated Harvest Report. Please complete and return it within 2 weeks of your hunt, even if you did not fill your tag. Failure to return the report will result in a $25 fine. Your report helps Infinite Outdoors set future harvest quotas and keep this property hunting well year after year.
