7500 ftResort Valley Ranch is a private property near Foxton, Colorado spanning roughly 3,600 acres in GMU 461, a unit known for being made up almost entirely of private land. That keeps public pressure low and makes drawing an elk tag a lot more realistic than in other parts of the state. Almost all cow tags in this unit can be drawn with 0 preference points and as a second choice - be sure to check out the PLO tag in 461 that runs from September through January. The land has been in our family since the 1940s, and we’re proud to offer access to hunters who respect the land and the animals that roam it. This listing is specifically for cow elk hunts - if you're looking to fill a bull tag, make sure to book through the bull elk listing on the Infinite Outdoors platform. Over-the-counter bear licenses are encouraged out here, as bears are seen regularly on the property. Coyotes are another species we ask hunters to take if the opportunity presents itself, but starting in 2025, a small game license will be required, as they can no longer be harvested under an unfilled big game tag. RVs are welcome, and hunters are allowed to bring ATVs, but they must stay on existing two-tracks as off-roading is strictly prohibited and subject to fines. The only exception is for game retrieval, and even then, we ask that you take one path in and one path out. While the property does have a solid network of roads to get you where you need to go, some of them are community easements, so there’s a chance you might see a neighbor pass through - though traffic will be minimal. The land is also listed on Hipcamp outside of hunting season, but rest assured, camping is closed to the public during all hunting dates. We’ve taken care of this property for generations and expect anyone who hunts it to treat it with the same level of respect. If you’re looking for a quiet, well-managed piece of ground with strong elk numbers and a shot at a bear or coyote along the way, this is a solid place to hang your tag.
Resort Valley Ranch offers an ideal mix of terrain, cover, and year-round water sources. The property includes a blend of open meadows, aspen groves, and thick timber, with several north-facing slopes covered in dense, dark timber that provide perfect bedding areas for elk seeking seclusion and shade. Thoughtful forest management and selective logging have encouraged healthy new growth across parts of the ranch, creating excellent forage and edge habitat that attracts and holds game. Multiple reliable water sources are spread throughout the property, including Last Resort Creek, which runs during the winter and spring months; West Resort Creek, which flows consistently all year; and eight natural springs that ensure water is always accessible, even during dry spells. Elk make good use of these resources, moving between bedding areas and feeding zones with regularity. During the early fall and into the rut, bulls can be heard bugling from the timber as they begin to gather cows in nearby openings. As the season progresses into late fall and early winter, elk tend to settle into the property’s lower elevations and more protected areas, where food and cover remain abundant. With its natural variety, strong water availability, and minimal hunting pressure from surrounding private lands, Resort Valley Ranch offers an outstanding opportunity to pursue elk in a habitat that truly meets their needs year-round.
By reserving an adventure on this property, hunters will have access for the entire season of which they've booked. The exception here will be archery season or any extended PLO seasons, which will be limited to 7-day hunts.
Reservation fees are due at the time of booking and are non-refundable. 50% of the outdoorsman fee will process 2 weeks after the draw results in this state are posted. If you are unsuccessful in the draw, reach out to IO and the situation will be handled accordingly. The remaining 50% will process 1 month prior to the hunt.
Cancellations made prior to placing a deposit will be taken care of immediately. Any cancellations needing made after placing a deposit will result in attempts to reschedule the hunt for a different season, or a different year. Please note that refunds are not guaranteed.
If there is a lapse in availability, please do not be discouraged to reach out to IO. All calendars are set and managed by landowners, and unavailability is set by them. However, IO is willing to reach out on your behalf, to check on available dates. Other reasons for unavailable dates include biologist recommended hunter/harvest quotas that landowners implement, as well as state season dates not being released.
You are not legally allowed to access the property, for any adventure, prior to your selected access day. If you try to access the property at all before your selected date(s), without prior approval from IO, you will be subject to trespassing and punishments therein.
