Rhody Creek offers firearm deer hunting during Michigan's November rifle season on 67 private acres of Upper Peninsula big woods near Grand Marais. The property is in Alger County, within Michigan's Deer Zone 1, set off the Rhody Creek Truck Trail in some of the most remote forest country in the state.

Opening day in the U.P. is a tradition, and this ground was made for it. Pine timber, glacial ridges, and the swampy bottoms along Rhody Creek give mature bucks places to hide when pressure builds across the region. The firearm season lands during the November rut, when bucks are on their feet looking for does, and a hunter posted in the right spot can see deer that most hunters never do.

Only one party hunts the property at a time, up to two hunters. Sit the two ground blinds already in place or hunt from tree blinds. Park anywhere along the Rhody Creek Truck Trail, hike in on the east side of the road, and plan to bring your deer out by backpack or sled.

Each booking is a 5-day hunt. Michigan deer licenses are over the counter, so there is no draw to wait on. Hunter orange is required during firearm season. Grand Marais is the nearest town for lodging, meals, and supplies.

Big woods whitetails are fewer and warier than farm-country deer, and they lean hard on heavy cover. Rhody Creek's swampy bottoms and dense pine are exactly the kind of security cover pressured bucks retreat to in November, while the glacial ridges funnel movement between bedding areas and creek-bottom travel routes. Cold weather, early snow, and the rut all keep deer moving during the firearm season, which makes all-day sits in a blind a strong plan.

After your hunt, you will be sent an automated Harvest Report. To assist Infinite Outdoors in maintaining the quality of properties, and to continue to put conservation at the forefront, we require that the harvest report be completely filled out and returned. Failure to fill out the harvest report within 2 weeks of the hunt taking place will result in a $25 fine. If you are unsuccessful in filling your tag, Infinite Outdoors still needs to have that information provided to them. This is how we make changes to future harvest quotas and continue to be the most well managed access and conservation platform in the country.

No application needed. You need a Michigan base license plus a single deer license or deer combination license, sold over the counter at michigan.gov/dnrlicenses, in the Michigan DNR Hunt Fish app, or from any license agent. Hunter education is required for hunters born on or after January 1, 1960.

Reservation fees are due at the time of booking and are non-refundable. 50% of the outdoorsman fee is due at the time of booking, and the remaining 50% will process 1 month prior to the hunt.

For big game adventures, cancellations made prior to placing a deposit will be handled immediately with no penalty. If a cancellation is requested after a deposit has been placed, Infinite Outdoors will make every effort to reschedule the hunt for a different season or a future year. Refunds are not guaranteed once a deposit has been placed.

If there is a lapse in availability, please do not be discouraged to reach out to IO. All calendars are set and managed by landowners, and unavailability is set by them. However, IO is willing to reach out on your behalf, to check on available dates. Other reasons for unavailable dates include biologist recommended hunter/harvest quotas that landowners implement, as well as state season dates not being released.

You are not legally allowed to access the property, for any adventure, prior to your selected access day. If you try to access the property at all before your selected date(s), without prior approval from IO, you will be subject to trespassing and punishments therein
