Located 40 miles outside of Steamboat Springs you will find this beautiful ranch with 1 mile of access on the East Fork of the Williams Fork River. Coffin Gulch Homestead is a beautiful and secluded property located on the East Fork of the Williams Fork River in Colorado. This property is perfect for those who want to escape the crowds and enjoy some peaceful fly fishing. They say Routt County has a high-density fish population with a low-density human population, the perfect combo.
Access to the river is fairly easy especially if accessing it from the bridge, the banks are not typically too steep as you move about the property but you may have to skirt around some Thornapple bushes/willows. You have access to both sides of the river. As long as the water is wadeable you can crisscross the river to hit more fishing holes and banks.
Due to livestock and other concerns, dogs and other pets are NOT permitted on this property.
Late May through September is an ideal time to fish on this property, the river is home to a variety of fish species, including brown and rainbow trout, and provides opportunities for both beginner and experienced anglers. During the summer months, dry fly fishing can be exceptional due to the abundance of hatches, including Mayflies, Caddis, Terrestrials, Salmonflies, and small Stoneflies. The river is home to a variety of fish species, including brown and rainbow trout, and provides opportunities for both beginner and experienced anglers.

Beautiful stretch of water. This time of year its a bit thin so there are fewer available pools to fish. Despite this, I caught several nice fish. I met the landowner and she was pleasant and helpful. Will definitely fish this property again.

This was a wild day! Super Remote Feel, pulled up to a semi-washed out creek-river due to rain, so we took our time, tried about every combo of fly you could think of.....nada.....then, LUNCH BREAK, and poof around 2 pm the water began to clear and we caught a TON of cutts on dry droppers all afternoon....Ranch Owner met us, could be one of the nicest humans i have ever met, wow, helped with access info., and even helped shuttled our truck to the end when we were half way thru our day! Wonderful Property, Perfect Wet Wade Size water..... 10/10.
