Notes from the landowner

Stag Camp is a 130-acre property tucked into the Aeneas Valley in GMU 204, with thousands of acres of Okanogan National Forest just minutes down the road. This is a DIY turkey hunt - tags for GMU 204 are over the counter and easy to pick up before your hunt. This listing is set up as a 2-day hunt, but if you need more time, extending to 4 days is possible by simply selecting your dates on the calendar when booking. The property lends itself well to just about any hunting style - whether you prefer spot and stalk or setting up an ambush, there is good ground here for both approaches. Birds on this property are relatively unpressured, giving hunters a genuine opportunity to work turkeys on their own terms. The property features a permanent blind that wildlife has grown accustomed to over time, giving hunters a proven setup and excellent cover - look for the blind icon on the Infinite Outdoors map for the exact location. Access is straightforward via county roads, with a gated entrance and designated parking for trucks and ATVs. Hunters looking for a comfortable base camp will find great options at the national forest campground just a half mile down the road.

Game and habitat information

Stag Camp's 130 acres of mixed meadow and conifer timber in the Aeneas Valley sit squarely in Merriam's turkey country. Okanogan County is one of the established strongholds for Merriam's turkeys in Washington State, and their native habitat - coniferous mountain terrain with ponderosa pine and mixed forest - describes this property almost exactly. The turkey population in the Okanogan is healthy and expanding, thanks in part to the National Wild Turkey Federation and conservation-minded landowners in the region. The open meadow ground on this property serves as natural strut zones and feeding areas, while the surrounding timber gives birds the roosting and loafing cover they gravitate toward through the day. The transition between those two habitat types - timber edge to open ground - is where most of the action happens. The thousands of acres of Okanogan National Forest bordering the property carry birds into the area and keep the local population strong, and with relatively low hunting pressure on this private ground, turkeys here behave like turkeys that haven't been educated
