40This property is a solid 40-acre tract just north of Talmoon, MN, with a corner that touches Little Turtle Lake. The property is heavily wooded with a mix of aspen, hardwoods, and spruce, and although it went through a recent harvest, the cover is still thick and holds deer well. Visibility ranges depending on the stand of timber, most spots offer 50-60 yard shooting lanes, and some of the aspen pockets open up enough for 100-yard views. It's a great setup for bow, crossbow, muzzleloader, or shotgun hunters. Rifle hunting is allowed, but you'll want to be comfortable taking close-range shots, as this isn’t wide-open country. Whitetail numbers are consistently strong on the property. Please be advised that there is a one-deer limit and only bucks are allowed. There are no stands or blinds provided, and no permanent stands are allowed. Please bring a portable stand or blind and avoid drilling into trees. For those planning to stay a few days, there's a good spot on the property to park a camper. Overall, it's a quiet, well-covered piece of ground that offers a real chance at close encounters.
Whitetail deer are one of the main game species on this 40-acre property. The dense timber mix of aspen, hardwoods, and spruce provides ideal bedding and thermal cover, especially important in this part of northern Minnesota. Located in the northeast region near Talmoon, this area is seeing a steady rebound in deer numbers following a few tough winters. Recent Minnesota DNR reports show the whitetail population is improving, with harvest numbers in the region up about 9% in 2024 compared to the year before. The quality of the habitat here makes it a stronghold for resilient whitetail. The thick regeneration from a recent timber harvest adds even more browse and cover, supporting daytime movement. You won’t see long-range rifle shots here, but if you're looking for a true big-woods hunt with solid whitetail potential, this property delivers.
After your hunt, you will be sent an automated Harvest Report. To assist Infinite Outdoors in maintaining the quality of properties - and continue to put conservation at the forefront - we require that the harvest report be completely filled out and returned. Failure to fill out the harvest report within 2 weeks of the hunt taking place will result in a $25 fine. If you are unsuccessful in filling your tag, Infinite Outdoors still needs to have that information provided to them. This is how we will make changes to future year's harvest quotas and continue to be the most well managed access and conservation platform in the country.
3 Day Hunt. By booking the first day of your adventure, you are automatically booking the following 2 as well. The reservation will be for the entire timeframe, and your entire group.
Tags are OTC in DPA 169. Tags can be purchased on 8/1/25. Please be advised that there is a one-deer limit and only bucks are allowed.
Reservation fees are due at the time of booking, and are non-refundable. 50% of the outdoorsman fee will process 2 weeks after the draw results in this state are posted. If you are unsuccessful in the draw, reach out to IO and the situation will be handled accordingly. The remaining 50% will process 1 month prior to the hunt. All OTC hunts will require a 50% deposit of the outdoorsman fee at the time of booking as well. The remaining 50% will process 1 month prior to the hunt.
Cancellations made prior to placing a deposit will be taken care of immediately. Any cancellations needed after placing a deposit will result in attempts to reschedule the hunt for a different season, or a different year. Please note that refunds are not guaranteed.
If there is a lapse in availability, please do not be discouraged to reach out to IO. All calendars are set and managed by landowners, and unavailability is set by them. However, IO is willing to reach out on your behalf, to check on available dates. Other reasons for unavailable dates include biologist recommended hunter/harvest quotas that landowners implement, as well as state season dates not being released.
You are not legally allowed to access the property, for any adventure, prior to your selected access day. If you try to access the property at all before your selected date(s), without prior approval from IO, you will be subject to trespassing and punishments therein.
