Hogs own the Waccamaw River bottoms, and this one-day hog hunting trip at Jamestown Hunt Club puts you right in the middle of them. Spread across 5,000 acres in the river drainage northwest of Calabash, in Brunswick County, North Carolina, the property sits in some of the thickest hog country on the Carolina coast. Swampy floodplain and dense bottomland hardwoods hold sounders here, and feeders and food plots throughout the property keep them coming.
This isn’t a drop-you-off-and-good-luck hunt. Arrive around noon, meet at the clubhouse, and sight in on the club’s own range. A Jamestown Hunt Club rep then takes you to the hottest spot on the property for an evening hunt, brings you back to the clubhouse afterward, and does it again for the morning hunt. Archery and rifle hunters are both welcome, every hunt is over feeders, and the hunts can accommodate mobility-impaired hunters. Please make your booking for your arrival day, this is the that day you will hunt in the PM.
Your price covers one hog and a night on site in rustic-modern lodging with a full kitchen and room for 6 to 10 hunters. When your hog is down, the skinning shack with winches makes processing easy.
When you’re done, Sunset Beach is about 15 minutes away and Myrtle Beach is a short drive. With a clubhouse to gather in, Jamestown works for a corporate retreat, a guys’ trip, or a family getaway split between the river and the beach. Bring a valid North Carolina hunting license.
Premium lodging near the beach is available at an additional cost. Your hunt price stays the same; you book and pay for the upgrade directly with the host at www.retreatmyrtlebeach.com.
The Waccamaw is a blackwater river known for unusually rich wetland habitat. On this property it carries swampy floodplain and bottomland hardwoods of laurel oak and overcup oak, mixed with Atlantic white cedar, live oak, and loblolly pine. Feral hogs bed in the thick swamp cover and move out to the hardwood flats to feed on acorns and roots. Feeders and food plots spread across all 5,000 acres give that daily movement reliable places to show up.
