Notes from the landowner

This 154-acre property sits at the edge of one of the largest tallgrass prairie restorations in the Upper Midwest, the Glacial Ridge project, a joint effort among dozens of conservation partners to rebuild native prairie and wetland habitat across tens of thousands of acres. For archery hunters, that neighbor is the whole draw: deer bed for the day in that undisturbed grassland and wetland refuge next door, then work onto this property's edges and tree lines to feed and travel, on patterns the landowner already knows well. A hunt stand is already in place, and archery hunters are free to bring in their own tree stand and set up wherever the day's wind and deer movement call for it. Regional hunting pressure is light, the refuge itself isn't open to unrestricted public hunting, so this parcel isn't competing with heavy foot traffic nearby. Wells have non potable water but may be used. You may harvest 1 buck + 1 doe with a reservation on this property.

Game and habitat information

This is pure prairie-pothole country, open grassland and restored wetland rather than big timber, so deer travel is edge- and wind-driven. Expect deer to work the property's tree and shrub lines, wetland edges, and any cropland margins rather than classic funnel terrain. The surrounding refuge complex functions as a sanctuary effect: with 37,000+ acres of protected grassland and wetland cover nearby for bedding and refuge, deer push out onto the handful of private parcels like this one to feed and travel, concentrating activity in a predictable way for hunters who read the wind.
