440Old Baldy is a DIY elk hunting property located just northeast of Buford, Colorado in GMU 24. What sets this amazing opportunity apart is not only the quality hunting location, but the inclusion of a luxury yurt tucked away in the wilderness. Consisting of over 300 acres of private hunting ground, as well as being right on the edge of the White River National Forest and mere miles from the Flat Tops Wilderness, Old Baldy is the DIY elk hunter's paradise. As mentioned, included in this package is lodging and many other amenities. In the yurt, hunters will find: 6 beds, a fully equipped kitchen, propane stove, BBQ, and a 35-gallon drinking water tank. The location of the yurt is 2 miles back in the private acreage of the property and will require a 4WD vehicle to access. On top of all this, there is also a private pond on the property, stocked with fish. Hunters who book Old Baldy will need to bring their own hunting equipment as none will be provided for them.
The White River National Forest is known throughout Colorado for having the largest elk herd in the state. Old Baldy is located just at the base of the national forest, and offers easy and direct access - hunters can walk out the door of the yurt and get right to hunting! The private acreage on this property is made up of thick dark timber, and several aspen groves. There are also several water sources found nearby and within the property boundaries - the White River as well as private ponds will cater to many types of game in the area. Moving south from the private land into the national forest, hunters will experience an elevation gain of over 1000 feet. They will also find many open parks, bedding areas, and drainages that elk will utilize often. Other water sources like Ute Creek and Papoosa Creek can be hot spots for elk throughout the year, and are just a brief hike southeast of the Old Baldy Yurt.
5-Day and 6 nights. Additional nights in the yurt can be added to the adventure for additional cost.
