Notes from the landowner

This 200-acre DIY elk hunting property lies just south of Elk Head Reservoir, near Hayden, Colorado. It will solely be available for late season elk hunts, meaning 4th season or later, due to a lack of population of elk in the region prior to cold weather patterns moving in. Rock Springs Ranch does provide easy and convenient access, with great potential for those who enjoy more of a still-hunting style. Two tracks across the property allow for easy game retrieval as well as travel to and from each side of the ranch. Use of UTV's or 4WD vehicles is permitted on this property and is recommended in the later months when weather and conditions can worsen - use of vehicles or off-road vehicles is only permitted on existing two tracks, no creating your own paths. Please note that there is a ranch house on site, which must be taken into consideration for any discharging of a firearm. There are 2 box blinds provided on the property that may be utilized by hunters during their adventure.

Game and habitat information

The ranch features classic western slope country defined by rolling hills, sagebrush-covered slopes, and native grass communities that provide both forage and security cover for elk. The property spans both sides of a broad valley, with a primary north-south drainage that naturally funnels animal movement and creates predictable travel corridors - especially as elk begin shifting toward lower elevations later in the year. While Rock Springs Ranch does not lie directly within a primary elk migration route, the surrounding terrain and landscape act as a natural funnel for all wildlife, and as elk move out of higher country they can end up within this property's boundaries. On site water sources, plus several other reliable water sources located just north of the property boundary serve as consistent draw points, with elk utilizing the valley and drainage system as they travel between feed, cover, and water. To align with these late-season movement patterns, hunts on Rock Springs Ranch are offered exclusively during the late season (4th season or later), allowing migrating elk time to reach lower elevations and settle into more consistent use of the area.

Payment Policy

Reservation fees are due at the time of booking and are non-refundable. 50% of the outdoorsman fee will process 2 weeks after Colorado draw results post (or at the time of booking if booked after draw results are out). The remaining 50% will process 1 month prior to the hunt.

Cancellation Policy

If you are unsuccessful drawing a tag, reach out before 2 weeks after results post to cancel and no further charges will incur. If a hunt is cancelled after a payment for the outdoorsman fee has run, Infinite Outdoors will work to reschedule the hunt. Reach out to IO for more info.

Availability

If there is a lapse in availability, please do not be discouraged to reach out to IO. All calendars are set and managed by landowners, and unavailability is set by them. However, IO is willing to reach out on your behalf, to check on available dates. Other reasons for unavailable dates include biologist recommended hunter/harvest quotas that landowners implement, as well as state season dates not being released.

Trespassing

You are not legally allowed to access the property, for any adventure, prior to your selected access day. If you try to access the property at all before your selected date(s), without prior approval from IO, you will be subject to trespassing and punishments therein.
