East Faith and Furrow offers private duck and goose hunting on 198 acres of summer fallow and alfalfa about 5 miles northeast of East Helena in Lewis and Clark County, Montana, between Hart Lane, Eames Lane, and Canyon Ferry Road. Set in the Pacific Flyway, it is a field hunter’s setup, built for decoys, layout blinds, and birds dropping in to feed.
Alfalfa and fallow give birds open, inviting places to land, and the lakes and reservoirs around the valley keep waterfowl in the area all season. Watch the morning flights, figure out where the birds want to be, and put your spread right under them.
Your party of up to four hunters has the property to itself, with only one waterfowl party booked at a time. Drive a direct route from the road to your decoy setup area to unload, then park on designated roads or at the field edge. Two small home parcels on the southern edge are marked as a safety zone in the Infinite Outdoors app, and there are homes just south of Canyon Ferry Road. Stay out of the safety zone and never shoot toward homes, buildings, roads, or people.
This is a 1-day shotgun hunt, with the season running from early October into January. Every hunter needs Montana waterfowl licenses, a Federal Duck Stamp, and HIP registration. Helena is about 11 miles west for hotels, restaurants, and supplies.
Geese key in on the tender regrowth in alfalfa fields, and summer fallow offers wide landing zones where birds feel safe coming down. That combination makes this ground a natural feeding stop between the valley’s lakes and reservoirs. Ducks often follow the geese into the fields once colder weather sets in. Birds landing in open fields have a clear view of everything around them, so low-profile layout blinds and good concealment pay off. Set up with the wind at your back so birds come in facing you, and be ready on cold, clear mornings and after a front moves through.
Reservation fees are due at the time of booking and are non-refundable. 100% of the outdoorsman fee will process 48 hours prior to your hunt.
Adventures must be cancelled 48 hours or more prior to the hunt. Cancellations made within 48 hours of the hunt may be subject to full or partial charges. If applicable, IO will work with you to reschedule.
If there is a lapse in availability, please do not be discouraged to reach out to IO. All calendars are set and managed by landowners, and unavailability is set by them. However, IO is willing to reach out on your behalf, to check on available dates. Other reasons for unavailable dates include biologist recommended hunter/harvest quotas that landowners implement, as well as state season dates not being released.
