Notes from the landowner

At Lazy JF, we've got just over 2,800 acres of private farm ground right outside Crawford, Nebraska. Our farm is located in the Pine Ridge deer unit, so check state regulations specific to our area. This listing is valid for 5-day DIY whitetail buck hunts, and our property caters to all deer hunters, whether they are toting archery equipment, rifle, or muzzleloader. Please note that this is a whitetail-only hunt - any harvest of a mule deer is prohibited, since we reserve mule deer hunting for family only. But there is no shortage of whitetail to work with! There are no blinds or tree stands provided, but hunters are welcome to use the ample space to set up their own non-permanent options, as long as they are taken down after the hunt is over. This is also an active cattle operation, so farm work may be underway at any point during your stay - we'll do our best to keep operations clear of your hunting areas, but it's something to keep in mind going in. We don't offer lodging or camping on the farm, but Crawford is only a 5-minute drive down the road, so finding a place to stay close to your hunt should be nice and easy.

Game and habitat information

The Pine Ridge unit is known for a variety of habitat that sustains healthy whitetail populations, and Lazy JF falls right in the center of it all. Over two miles of Little Cottonwood Creek run through the property, lined with mature cottonwoods and the natural growth that comes with consistent water. That creek corridor gives deer year-round access to both water and cover. Beyond the creek bottom, the farm's food sources stay steady throughout the season - between onsite alfalfa, hay, and other crop ground, plus neighboring farms growing diverse crops of their own, there's plenty of reason for deer to stay in the area long term. Lazy JF also boasts a solid amount of pasture ground within the hunting boundaries, which deer will use as well, especially during low-light hours.
