This is a DIY dove hunt near Gilcrest, Colorado, on a quiet and secluded private farm. There are no blinds or permanent structures provided for this hunt, but there are plenty of natural features that hunters can utilize to have successful days in the field. Access to our property is very convenient and drivable, but we do ask that you do not drive into our irrigated field. Please use the directions and parking locations shown in the Infinite Outdoors mobile app. Treat our property with respect, close gates, don't speed, and we'll enjoy having you out time after time. There are no bathrooms on site, but Gilcrest and Platteville are just a short drive away for anything you need.
This property sits in one of the more active corridors for migratory dove movement in the country. In this region hunters will encounter both mourning doves - when the migration is in swing - and Eurasian doves throughout the year. The farm offers hunters access to several features that attract and hold birds in an area, including food and water. Alfalfa is a reliable food source for doves, and an on site pond gives birds a convenient water source. This combination naturally concentrates activity and keeps birds returning to the same areas throughout the day. On neighboring properties, but in the vicinity, are tall cottonwood trees that serve as quality roosting spots. Doves will leave and return to those trees throughout the day, which should give hunters consistent flight opportunities and natural travel lines to set up along.
