This tract lies along the North Platte River south of Bridgeport, in the heart of the Nebraska panhandle where the river cuts a wide, fertile bottom through otherwise dry high plains country. The North Platte has drawn hunters, ranchers, and travelers through this stretch of Nebraska for well over a century, and the Upper Platte Unit has built a reputation as some of the best whitetail ground in the state. It's also some of the hardest to access, since ownership here runs almost entirely private and tight knit. That history is part of why this parcel matters. Ground like this rarely turns over, and rarer still does it open up to outside hunters.
The property runs just under 500 acres along the river, giving hunters direct frontage and access to the timber and brush lines that define this stretch of the Platte. Bridgeport and the surrounding area have long been known among Nebraska hunters for mature whitetail, and this tract has been managed with that reputation in mind. To protect the quality of bucks coming off this ground, any buck harvested under 130 inches will incur a $500 fine.
The property is built around a classic North Platte River bottom system. Mature cottonwoods line the river channel, providing thick overhead cover and travel corridors that bucks use to move undetected during daylight. Brushy draws and understory break off from the main river corridor, giving deer bedding security tucked close to feed. Adjacent irrigated cropland brings consistent food sources within easy reach of cover, keeping deer patterned and local through the fall. The combination of dense river bottom timber, brush, and nearby agriculture creates a self contained system that holds deer through the rut and gives hunters a genuine shot at a mature buck without having to leave the property to find one.
