Faith and Furrow offers private antelope hunting on 900 acres of winter wheat and summer fallow just east of East Helena in Lewis and Clark County, Montana. The property sits in Hunting District 388, where only a handful of antelope licenses are drawn each year, so if you are holding one of those tags, this is ground worth spending it on.
Open wheat and fallow fields spread across the valley floor with mountains on the horizon in every direction. Antelope use these fields through the fall, feeding on green winter wheat and bedding out in the open where they can watch for miles. Glassing is easy. Closing the distance is the challenge, and every small drainage, field edge, and shift in the wind becomes part of the stalk.
Your party of up to two hunters has the property to itself. Only one hunt is booked on Faith and Furrow at a time, so nobody else will be glassing the same fields. Hunting is on foot from designated parking along the roads and field edges, and once your antelope is down you can drive a direct route to it and straight back out to the road.
This is a 2-day hunt for archery or rifle hunters holding a valid Montana antelope license for the district. Book your first day and the following day is yours as well. Helena is about 10 miles west with hotels, restaurants, sporting goods, and fuel.
Antelope are built for open ground like this. Winter wheat greens up in the fall and gives antelope high-quality forage right when they need it, while the summer fallow offers wide-open bedding areas where they can spot danger long before it arrives. Expect to find animals feeding in the wheat early and late in the day and resting in the open during midday. The rut runs from September into early October, when bucks are busy chasing and defending does, which can give bowhunters a real edge. Later in the fall antelope often bunch into larger groups, so take your time glassing, pick out the buck you want, and plan your approach around the wind and the lay of the land.
Reservation fees are due at the time of booking and are non-refundable. 50% of the outdoorsman fee will process 2 weeks after the draw results in this state are posted, or immediately upon booking if the reservation is made after draw results post.
