Camping, Tent Camping, River, Trailer Access, Dogs Allowed, Guides Allowed, 4WDJust outside of New Meadows, Idaho you will find 1 mile of river frontage on the Little Salmon River in the Payette National Forest. Historically, this river is utilized by the Native American tribes, the Nez Perce and Shoshone, this area is a scenic location and is surrounded by geothermal properties here you can find rainbow trout and pike minnow. The Hot Spring Ranch has Geothermal springs flowing through the ranch. This is a great place to take bring the family as there are numerous hiking trails and hot springs you can visit in the area.
Fishing on this property is very easy, with plenty of casting room and easy walking wading access. The species you can anticipate to catch are Rainbow trout in various sizes, and Pike Minnow. Salmon and Steelhead could possibly migrate to this stretch of river for spawning, however unlikely, anglers must not target any spawning salmon/steelhead. Focus on dry fly fishing and streamers. Anglers will see lots of bug life, especially grasshoppers through the late summer, along with frogs, forage fish, crayfish, and other wildlife such as Elk and Moose. There is plenty of river access, and it would be encouraged that anglers utilize the entirety of the access in order to have the best fishing experience. It is muddy around the banks due to the geothermal water, so boots or waders are recommended.
Warnings: Hot spring comes out at 160 degrees. Do not touch the boiling water. It will cause 3rd-degree burns. Occasionally there are cattle running through the property as well. This landowner has a few rental homes on his property so expect to see people near the homes and parking area.

This ranch is killer, from the hot springs to the fishing, what an amazing experience. The landowner is so kind, and gave lots of suggestions for hikes in the area and history of the town. There is a cool hot tub that he made from the natural hot springs and some great lodging options. Fishing was a bit slow but I hooked into a handful of trout on streamers. Would have liked to visit later in the summer when hoppers are going off, guess i'll just have to visit again!
