Shamrock Hills Pronghorn

Truly one of the best examples of high dessert southern Wyoming hunting areas. A short dive NW of Rawlins Wyoming is the Shamrock hills. This "Checkerboard" of public and private land is known for its large herds of Elk, Deer, and Pronghorn as well as rich deposits of coal, oil, and natural gas. The Checkerboard land ownership pattern was created by the transoncintal railroad in the 1800's. This effectively serves to landlock some parcels with private land. While this is controversial for some hunters, access to this private ranch allows for unhindered access to well over 25,000 acres of public and private land.

While at first glance the landscape can seem barren and dry, there are plenty of oasis in the dessert to support trophy Pronghorn specimens. Pronghorn thrive in the vast, open plains and rolling grasslands that are abundant around Rawlins. These areas provide the visibility that pronghorns rely on for spotting predators, as well as ample space for their incredible speed. This sagebrush steppe is a key component of pronghorn habitat. Sagebrush is not only a primary food source but also offers shelter and protection from the elements. The density of sagebrush can vary, but pronghorns prefer areas where the vegetation is not too dense, allowing for easy movement and clear sightlines. The broken topography of the Shamrock hills provides the ideal backdrop for a spot a stalk hunt.

Reservation fees are due at the time of booking, and are non-refundable. 50% of the outdoorsman fee will process 2 weeks after the draw results in this state are posted. If you are unsuccessful in the draw, reach out to IO and the situation will be handled accordingly. The remaining 50% will process 1 month prior to the hunt. All OTC hunts will require a 50% deposit of the outdoorsman fee at the time of booking as well. The remaining 50% will process 1 month prior to the hunt.

Cancellations made prior to placing a deposit will be taken care of immediately. Any cancellations needed after placing a deposit will result in attempts to reschedule the hunt for a different season, or a different year. Please note that refunds are not guaranteed.

If there is a lapse in availability, please do not be discouraged to reach out to IO. All calendars are set and managed by landowners, and unavailability is set by them. However, IO is willing to reach out on your behalf, to check on available dates. Other reasons for unavailable dates include biologist recommended hunter/harvest quotas that landowners implement, as well as state season dates not being released.

You are not legally allowed to access the property, for any adventure, prior to your selected access day. If you try to access the property at all before your selected date(s), without prior approval from IO, you will be subject to trespassing and punishments therein
