Deer River Gateway pairs private spring and fall turkey hunting on 109 acres in the Town of Brasher, St. Lawrence County, New York (WMU 6A) with a night at a three-bedroom camp on the Deer River, about five miles down the road.
The hunting ground is old-field openings and hardwood edges along roughly 20,000 acres of Brasher State Forest. Come in May for gobblers working out of the timber at first light, with hunting closing at noon. Or come in October, when flocks feed through the openings and around the apple trees and you can hunt from sunrise to sunset.
After the hunt, head back to camp. It has three bedrooms, a living room, a big deck, and a hot tub. Only one group of up to four hunters is booked at a time, so you get the property and the camp to yourselves.
A New York turkey permit is sold over the counter with your hunting license, so there is no draw, and it covers both seasons. This is a 2-day hunt with one night at camp: book your first day and the next day is yours as well.
The property is a mix of old-field openings and hardwood edges against one of the largest blocks of public timber in northern St. Lawrence County. Birds roost and travel in the state forest and come out to the openings to strut in spring and to feed in fall.
On a spring trip, use your first morning to locate birds and be set up before first light on day two, close to where you heard them gobble. On a fall trip, glass the openings and apple trees for flocks, and use the full day to find birds and work them.
A non-refundable reservation fee is due at booking. 100% of the outdoorsman fee is processed 14 days before your hunt. This property accepts up to 3 turkey bookings per 7 days.
Reservation fees are non-refundable. Cancellations made within 14 days of your hunt may be subject to full or partial charges. Infinite Outdoors will work to reschedule your hunt where possible.
If there is a lapse in availability, please do not be discouraged to reach out to IO. All calendars are set and managed by landowners, and unavailability is set by them. However, IO is willing to reach out on your behalf, to check on available dates. Other reasons for unavailable dates include biologist recommended hunter/harvest quotas that landowners implement, as well as state season dates not being released.
You are not legally allowed to access the property, for any adventure, prior to your selected access day. If you try to access the property at all before your selected date(s), without prior approval from IO, you will be subject to trespassing and punishments therein.
No draw required. New York turkey permits are sold over the counter to residents and nonresidents along with a hunting license, and one permit includes tags for both the spring and fall seasons.
Spring bag limit: two bearded turkeys per season, no more than one per day.
Fall bag limit: one turkey of either sex per season
This listing is bookable during New York’s spring turkey season, which runs through May in upstate New York, and the Northern Zone fall turkey season, a two-week season in early October. Check current season dates before your hunt: https://dec.ny.gov/things-to-do/hunting/hunting-trapping-seasons

HUNTING HOURS: Spring: one-half hour before sunrise until noon. Fall: sunrise to sunset.
This is a 2-day hunt. When you book your first day, the following day is automatically reserved for you. Your booking includes two nights at a three-bedroom camp on the Deer River in Brasher, about five miles from the hunting property. The camp has a living room, a large deck, and a hot tub. After you book, you’ll receive the landowner’s contact information so you can reach out with any lodging questions and arrange check-in.
After your hunt, you will be sent an automated Harvest Report. To assist Infinite Outdoors in maintaining the quality of properties, and to continue to put conservation at the forefront, we require that the harvest report be completely filled out and returned. Failure to fill out the harvest report within 2 weeks of the hunt taking place will result in a $25 fine. If you are unsuccessful in filling your tag, Infinite Outdoors still needs to have that information provided to them. This is how we will make changes to future year's harvest quotas and continue to be the most well managed access and conservation platform in the country. New York also requires you to report your deer harvest to DEC: immediately through the HuntFishNY app if you are using e-tags, or within 48 hours if you are using paper tags.
