Notes from the landowner

Booner Palace sits on 138 acres of prestigious river bottom ground near Solomon Kansas. Here you will find a large population of whitetail deer. In 2022 an official Boone and Crockett buck was shot on this property, net scoring 190 6/8”. The Deer primarily travel inside the tree line against the river. There are significant bedding areas in the oxbows along the river. Food sources on this property include many wild food sources known by many biologists to have exceptional crude protein levels. Crops such as Corn, Soybeans, Milo, and Wheat are rotated every year on this property. The convergence of the Solomon and Smoky Hill River make this a legendary property growing some world class whitetail. Hunters are asked to manage the deer on this property, by only harvesting mature bucks. This is a 3-day hunt, so by booking the first day of your hunt, you are automatically booked for the following 2 as well. NOTE: Any deer taken below 140" or younger than 3 years old will result in a fine.

Game and habitat information

The property near Solomon, KS boasts an ideal environment for large whitetail deer, with its diverse range of biological habitats, including a riverbed, hardwood forests, and agricultural fields. Whitetail deer are abundant in the area, especially during the rut, attracted to the various food sources provided by the agricultural fields, as well as the shelter and cover provided by the hardwood forests. The deer travel along the riverbed and tree lines, making them a prime location for hunters to set up near. The hardwood forests offer excellent cover for deer, making it an ideal location for hunters to set up in tree stands and wait for deer to pass by. The dense tree lines also provide a rich source of food for deer, with a mix of deciduous species such as oaks, maples, and hickories, which produce acorns, nuts, and other food sources throughout the year. In addition, the agricultural fields provide an abundance of food for deer, as crops such as corn, soybeans, and wheat are highly attractive to the animals. However, this also means that hunters must be strategic in their approach, as the deer can be highly unpredictable and may not follow predictable patterns. Deer numbers increase during the rut and can be great for the late November and early December rifle season.

-Nov rut report- IO hunters enjoyed a 75% Success rate on mature deer all above 140". Deer were targeting scrapes heavily in early Nov. and field edges. Successful bow hunts took place while rattling and hunting active scrapes.
