Notes from the landowner

Lost Creek Ridge offers 116 acres of private whitetail deer hunting with bow, crossbow, or muzzleloader in the Ned and Lost Creek area of Breathitt County, Kentucky. The property lies in Kentucky Deer Zone 4, tucked into the ridge and hollow country of the eastern mountains near Hazard.
This is classic Appalachian hardwood ground. Steep timbered slopes break into benches and drainages that deer use to move between sidehill bedding cover and the hollow bottoms. Those benches and hollow heads give a bowhunter natural setups within close range of travel routes, and the broken terrain lets you slip in and out with the wind in your favor.
One party of up to two hunters has the property at a time, so the woods stay quiet across a season that runs from September into January. The acreage is split into two tracts of 98 and 18 acres, each with its own designated parking spot. ATVs are welcome on approved routes, including for getting a deer out, and you are free to bring your own portable stand or ground blind.
Kentucky deer permits are sold over the counter, so there is no draw to wait on. Hunts run four days, priced per hunter. Lodging, food, and supplies are close by in Hazard.

Game and habitat information

Lost Creek Ridge is steep, heavily timbered country typical of the eastern Kentucky mountains. Hardwood forest covers the slopes, with flatter benches along the sidehills and drainages cutting down into the hollows.
Whitetails in this terrain bed on the slopes and benches and travel the drainages and the low spots along the ridges, so stand placement comes down to reading the contours. Light pressure from a single party at a time keeps deer on natural patterns through the long archery and crossbow season and into the muzzleloader dates.

Harvest Report

After your hunt, you will be sent an automated Harvest Report. To assist Infinite Outdoors in maintaining the quality of properties, and continue to put conservation at the forefront, we require that the harvest report be completely filled out and returned. Failure to fill out the harvest report within 2 weeks of the hunt taking place will result in a $25 fine. If you are unsuccessful in filling your tag, Infinite Outdoors still needs to have that information provided to them. This is how we will make changes to future year’s harvest quotas and continue to be the most well managed access and conservation platform in the country.

Current Season

Kentucky's archery deer season opens in early September and runs into mid January. Crossbow season opens two weeks after archery and closes with it. Kentucky also offers a short early muzzleloader season in October and a late muzzleloader season in December.
Check current season dates and regulations at fw.ky.gov before your hunt: https://app.fw.ky.gov/SeasonDates/Default.aspx

License and Application

No draw required. You will need a Kentucky hunting license and a statewide deer permit, both sold over the counter at fw.ky.gov or through a license vendor. Nonresidents are welcome.
Kentucky allows one antlered deer per hunter statewide each season. Breathitt County is in Deer Zone 4, where the season limit is two deer and only one may be antlerless. In Zone 4, antlerless deer may not be taken during the early muzzleloader season or the first six days of the late muzzleloader season. Confirm current zone rules at fw.ky.gov.
