6Julesburg Dove is a DIY dove hunting property, just a little over 163 acres located southeast of Julesburg, Colorado. The northeastern plains of Colorado see an abundance of migratory birds including both Mourning and Eurasian doves. With the surrounding agriculture and South Platte River, food and water sources are readily available. For the 2023 season this property will be solely made up of sunflowers, which are a natural attractant for doves. Hunters will find it easy to hide in the tall crop, making for an exciting shoot. Hunters must have all necessary and current Colorado licensing and must abide by all state of Colorado limits. Since this is a DIY hunt, it is recommended to bring your own buckets/chairs. A dog with a good nose will also come in handy, as finding downed birds in tall sunflower stocks is quite the chore.
Platte Flats property offers excellent habitat for dove. Eastern Colorado is famous for its dove hunting and this property is a good representation of its fame. Consisting of sunflower fields, nearby roosting trees on the close South Platte River, it offers excellent habitat for dove to stick around. This field will serve as a major flyway between feed, water and roosting. This field and neighboring fields are rotated crops and offer plenty of feed around serving as magnets for dove during certain times of the day. Eurasian Collared Dove and Mourning Dove utilize this region of Eastern Colorado. This being said, Eurasian Collared Dove have no bag limit and are widely recognized as an invasive species and do not count toward your bag limit. Mourning Doves have a limit of 15 per person and any Eurasian Collared dove shot does not count toward your dove limit. Bird identification research between dove species is highly recommended before using this property to maximize your success. This is an excellent opportunity to have a memorable dove hunt given these unique circumstances.
If there is a lapse in availability, please do not be discouraged from contacting Infinite Outdoors. Some landowners have not opened their land for reservations yet. The other reason properties might be unavailable is because we work directly with our landowners and hunts are booked by quota set by our biologist for the current year. That being said, we are willing, and able in most cases, to pre-book you for next season. OR book you in place of someone else canceling their reservation.
You are not legally allowed to access the property, for any adventure, prior to your selected access day. If you try to access the property at all before your selected date(s), without prior approval from IO, you will be subject to trespassing and punishments therein.
