Hickman Dam East is a 356-acre private duck and goose hunting property near Langford, South Dakota, in Marshall County. Sitting in the heart of the Prairie Pothole Region along the Central Flyway, it falls within the state’s 00Y nonresident waterfowl unit and offers exclusive access for up to four hunters.

The property blends crop fields, scattered ponds, low wetlands, and brushy shelterbelts. Mallards and other puddle ducks pile into the ponds and marsh edges early in the fall, and field-feeding Canada geese build as harvest moves along and temperatures drop. Birds loaf on the water through the middle of the day and fly out to feed in the surrounding fields, giving you chances at different times of day rather than one short morning flight.

That mix gives you options. Hunt ducks over a water set on the ponds, run layout blinds or A-frames in the cut fields for geese, or tuck into the long north to south treeline for natural cover. With room to adjust for any wind, you can scout, move, and set up where the birds want to be.

Northeast South Dakota is classic pothole country, and Hickman Dam East has the pieces waterfowl look for. Several ponds and low-lying wetlands hold ducks through the season and serve as roost and loafing water. Open ag fields provide the food, especially once crops come off and geese start keying on waste grain. Shelterbelts and brushy edges break the wind, give birds a travel line between water and field, and give hunters a place to hide. Expect strong duck numbers from the opener, with goose activity picking up into late fall until the water freezes.

Reservation fees are processed at the time of booking and are non-refundable. All outdoorsman fees will process automatically, 48 hours prior to the hunt.

Cancellations must be made 48 hours or more prior to the adventure. Cancellations made within 48 hours will be subject to partial or full ourdoorsman fee charges.

If there is a lapse in availability, please do not be discouraged from contacting Infinite Outdoors. Some landowners have not opened their land for reservations yet. The other reason properties might be unavailable is because we work directly with our landowners and hunts are booked by quota set by our biologist for the current year. That being said, we are willing, and able in most cases, to pre-book you for next season. OR book you in place of someone else canceling their reservation.

You are not legally allowed to access the property, for any adventure, prior to your selected access day. If you try to access the property at all before your selected date(s), without prior approval from IO, you will be subject to trespassing and punishments therein.
