Deer River Gateway offers private deer hunting on 109 acres in the Town of Brasher, St. Lawrence County, New York, in Wildlife Management Unit 6A. The property sits just outside Brasher Falls in the far northern reaches of the state, where North Country whitetails move between big timber and open ground all fall.
The property shares a boundary with roughly 20,000 acres of Brasher State Forest, and deer use it as a travel route on and off that big block of woods. Old-field openings give way to hardwood edges, and four apple trees pull deer in as the fruit drops. Rubs and scrapes mark the trees, and trail cameras have caught bucks moving in daylight and after dark.
Hunt archery, muzzleloader, or the regular firearms season, and pick the window that fits your trip. Bowhunters can sit over the apple trees as the fruit drops, and gun hunters can cover the edges where the timber meets the openings. Only one group of up to four hunters is booked at a time, so the property is yours while you’re here. Find the freshest rubs and scrapes and hang a portable stand or ground blind right where the deer are moving.
Tags are simple. New York deer licenses are sold over the counter to residents and nonresidents, with no draw and no preference points needed for your buck tag. Massena is about 15 minutes away for lodging, food, and supplies. This is a 3-day hunt: book your first day and the next 2 days are yours as well.
Deer River Gateway is a mix of old-field openings and hardwood edge on the doorstep of Brasher State Forest, one of the largest blocks of public timber in northern St. Lawrence County. Deer bed and travel in the forest and filter onto the property to feed along the openings, giving you natural edges to set up on throughout the season.
Four apple trees are a magnet in early fall, and deer gather around the drops through archery season. As the season moves toward November, scrapes and rubs build along the edges and bucks start using the travel route off the state forest in daylight. There are no food plots or bait on this ground, so the apples and the edges are what draw deer in, and that is where you want to be.
A non-refundable reservation fee is due at booking. A 50% deposit of the outdoorsman fee is charged at booking, and the remaining 50% is charged 1 month before your hunt.
Reservation fees are non-refundable. If you cancel before your deposit is processed, your cancellation is handled immediately. Once your deposit has been processed, Infinite Outdoors will work to reschedule your hunt for a different season or year. Refunds are not guaranteed.
If there is a lapse in availability, please do not be discouraged to reach out to IO. All calendars are set and managed by landowners, and unavailability is set by them. However, IO is willing to reach out on your behalf, to check on available dates. Other reasons for unavailable dates include biologist recommended hunter/harvest quotas that landowners implement, as well as state season dates not being released.
You are not legally allowed to access the property, for any adventure, prior to your selected access day. If you try to access the property at all before your selected date(s), without prior approval from IO, you will be subject to trespassing and punishments therein
No draw required for your buck. New York deer licenses and privileges are sold over the counter to residents and nonresidents, online or at any license agent, with no application window and no preference points. Every New York hunting license includes an Antlered Deer Tag, and each bowhunting or muzzleloading privilege adds a Bow/Muzzleloader Antlerless Deer Tag.
Earn a second buck: under New York's Earn-a-2nd-Buck system, hunters who take and report an antlerless deer on a valid antlerless tag receive a second Antlered Deer Tag.
Doe permits in WMU 6A are tight. Deer Management Permits (DMPs) for antlerless deer are issued by lottery in this unit. In the 2026 DMP lottery, WMU 6A permits went only to resident applicants holding preference points, and none were available to nonresidents. Antlerless rules in WMU 6A also vary by season, so check the DEC deer regulations before you hunt: https://dec.ny.gov/things-to-do/hunting/deer-bear/regulations
This listing is bookable during New York's Northern Zone archery season, muzzleloader season, and regular firearms season, plus the short late archery and muzzleloader window that follows the regular season in WMU 6A. HUNTING HOURS: Legal deer hunting hours in New York run from 30 minutes before sunrise to 30 minutes after sunset.
3-Day Hunt. By booking the first day of your hunt, you are automatically booked for the following 2 days as well.
After your hunt, you will be sent an automated Harvest Report. To assist Infinite Outdoors in maintaining the quality of properties, and to continue to put conservation at the forefront, we require that the harvest report be completely filled out and returned. Failure to fill out the harvest report within 2 weeks of the hunt taking place will result in a $25 fine. If you are unsuccessful in filling your tag, Infinite Outdoors still needs to have that information provided to them. This is how we will make changes to future year's harvest quotas and continue to be the most well managed access and conservation platform in the country. New York also requires you to report your deer harvest to DEC: immediately through the HuntFishNY app if you are using e-tags, or within 48 hours if you are using paper tags.
