Notes from the landowner

This property is one of 12 that are a part of the Oregon Trail Waterfowl Pass. Hunting here is limited to Oregon Trail Waterfowl Pass Holders and their guests - inquire within IO if you'd like more information about the pass. The Snake Blind covers about 400 yards of huntable river front, and the river here runs a little slower thanks to sandbars, islands, and a meandering channel. Early in the season you’ll also find a small creek branching off from the river, though it usually dries up once the water levels drop. The walk from the road is about 100 yards, making it easy to pack in gear. This blind includes a 4-man ALPS A-frame, but if you’re bringing a larger party, bring additional cover. Dogs can be used here but be mindful of current and depth while retrieving birds. Stay within the boundaries provided and keep vehicles on the road.

Game and habitat information

This property sit along a prime stretch of the North Platte River outside Torrington, Wyoming—a region well known for outstanding waterfowl hunting. Ducks and geese move through heavily during the migration, and the mix of slower bends, sandbars, and side channels creates excellent loafing, feeding, and roosting habitat. Mallards, pintails, teal, and wigeon are common along this river, while Canada geese use the Platte as a major corridor throughout the fall and winter. The combination of moving water, seasonal sandbars, and backwater sloughs provides consistent opportunities across the entire season. With reliable access and quality blind setups, hunters will find these riverfront properties well-positioned for memorable waterfowl hunts.
