This is a doe only hunt - if you're after a buck hunt, please use the buck only listing also found on the IO platform. Because this is a DIY hunt, there will be no provided amenities - no blinds, tree stands, or other amenities offered. Come prepared to hunt the property on your own, pack your game out, and do it all on foot. Though lodging and camping are not provided or permitted on site, civilization is not far away as Limon is a short 20-minute drive and has several lodging options. This property is a convenient and close option to the Front Range. We hope you enjoy our land as much as we do, and respect the opportunity to use it!
East Bijou sits in the Eastern Plains of Colorado and offers a strong mix of habitat features for mule deer. The property stretches along over a half mile of East Bijou Creek, with the creek bottom lined with mature trees and dense cover that provides both bedding habitat and natural transition corridors for deer moving through the area. About a third of the property is comprised of a hay field which serves as a consistent food source, and a stock tank on the property provides an additional water source and holding factor. The remainder of the acreage is open eastern plains terrain. Mule deer herds on the plains have historically been among the better-performing herds in the state. CPW actively manages doe hunting in areas where populations are healthy, using antlerless tags as a tool to regulate herd numbers and maintain balance. The eastern plains generally carry good numbers of does relative to bucks, and properties like East Bijou - with reliable food, water, and creek bottom cover - tend to concentrate deer and hold them through the year.
