Eaton Ranch is a 920-acre DIY spring turkey hunting property near Dupree, South Dakota, in Ziebach County and Prairie Turkey Unit 24A.
Gobblers roost in the creek bottoms here and fly down to strut on open grass at about 2,400 feet. The ranch's buttes and breaks make perfect listening posts at dawn, and the 2-acre lake and second water source keep birds nearby all spring.
Two days, two hunters, and no one else calling to your birds. Ground blinds are welcome as long as they leave with you. Use the two-track roads if you need to drive a bird out.
Spring turkey season brings this hunt to life, and it is open to shotgun or bow. Shotgun hunters draw a Unit 24A prairie turkey license through SD Game, Fish and Parks, while bowhunters can buy an archery spring turkey license over the counter.
Turkeys roost in the creek bottoms on Eaton Ranch and move out into the surrounding grassland, draws, and breaks to strut and feed during the day. The two water features, including a 2-acre lake, give birds reliable water close to the roost.
Your best bet is to locate gobbling birds at dawn from the high ground, then set up between the roost and the open grass where they head after fly-down. Because only one party hunts the property at a time, birds are not called to by other hunters on the ranch.
Reservation fees are due at the time of booking and are non-refundable. 100% of the outdoorsman fee will process 14 days prior to your hunt.
Cancellations must be made more than 14 days before your adventure. Any cancellations made within 14 days of your adventure may be subject to full or partial charges. The IO team will work with you to reschedule, if applicable.
If there is a lapse in availability, please do not be discouraged to reach out to IO. All calendars are set and managed by landowners, and unavailability is set by them. However, IO is willing to reach out on your behalf, to check on available dates. Other reasons for unavailable dates include biologist recommended hunter/harvest quotas that landowners implement, as well as state season dates not being released.
You are not legally allowed to access the property, for any adventure, prior to your selected access day. If you try to access the property at all before your selected date(s), without prior approval from IO, you will be subject to trespassing and punishments therein

After your hunt, you will be sent an automated Harvest Report. To assist Infinite Outdoors in maintaining the quality of properties, and to continue to put conservation at the forefront, we require that the harvest report be completely filled out and returned. Failure to fill out the harvest report within 2 weeks of the hunt taking place will result in a $25 fine. If you are unsuccessful in filling your tag, Infinite Outdoors still needs to have that information provided to them. This is how we make changes to future years' harvest quotas and continue to be the most well managed access and conservation platform in the country.
