Notes from the landowner

Goodhue Valley Farm offers private rifle deer hunting on about 135 acres near Addison, New York, in Steuben County and WMU 8T, during New York's regular firearms season.
When the guns go off across the Southern Tier in late November, deer head for the thickest cover they can find. On this working dairy and beef farm, that means hardwood timber, brushy transitions, and wooded drainages, all within reach of hay and crop fields where deer feed at first and last light. Early in the season the rut is still on, and bucks moving between bedding areas can show up any time of day. Rifles are legal in Steuben County.
One party of up to two hunters at a time, 3 days each, means the deer here see only you. Use the designated farm roads and access points, and run an ATV on those roads to reach your setup and bring your deer back. Camp at one of the designated spots with a tent or trailer.
The Antlered Deer Tag comes with your New York hunting license and is sold over the counter with no draw. For a doe during regular season, you need a WMU 8T Deer Management Permit. Camping spots have no power or water, though water is available on the farm for fill-up. Addison has food and gas, and Painted Post and Corning have hotels.

Game and habitat information

During regular season, the cover on Goodhue Valley Farm does the work. Hardwood timber, brushy transitions, and wooded drainages give pressured deer a place to hold, and the hay and crop fields keep pulling them out at dawn and dusk. Rut activity carries into the opening days, so bucks can be on the move between bedding areas through midday. Later in the season, deer settle into tight bedding in the cover and short trips to the fields.

Harvest Report

After your hunt, you will be sent an automated Harvest Report. To assist Infinite Outdoors in maintaining the quality of properties, and to continue to put conservation at the forefront, we require that the harvest report be completely filled out and returned. Failure to fill out the harvest report within 2 weeks of the hunt taking place will result in a $25 fine. If you are unsuccessful in filling your tag, Infinite Outdoors still needs to have that information provided to them.

Hunt Duration

3-Day Hunt. By booking the first day of your hunt, you are automatically booked for the following 2 days as well.

Current Season

This listing covers New York's Southern Zone regular firearms season, which opens on the third Saturday in November and runs for 23 days. During regular season you may hunt with a rifle, shotgun, muzzleloader, handgun, bow, or crossbow. Check current season dates at dec.ny.gov before your hunt.

License and Application

No application needed for your buck tag. You will need a New York hunting license (resident or nonresident), which includes an Antlered Deer Tag. To take an antlerless deer during regular season, you will also need a Deer Management Permit (DMP) for WMU 8T. Bow/Muzzleloader Antlerless Deer Tags are not valid during regular season. Buy online through DECALS at dec.ny.gov, at any license issuing agent, or by phone at 1-866-933-2257.

Draw Odds

No draw for your buck tag. New York hunting licenses, bowhunting and muzzleloading privileges, and the Antlered Deer Tag are sold over the counter to residents and nonresidents. Antlerless Deer Management Permits (DMPs) for WMU 8T are issued through a fall lottery.

Property Availability

If there is a lapse in availability, please do not be discouraged to reach out to IO. All calendars are set and managed by landowners, and unavailability is set by them.
