NoLocated near Anaconda MT, the Clark Fork River Headwaters property offers 1.75 miles of low pressure river frontage just one mile below the dam—the farthest upstream public access point on this stretch of the Clark Fork. Vehicle access is available on both sides of the river, and the open grasslands and gently sloping banks provide easy casting and movement for anglers of all skill levels. While the location is remote, it is well-maintained and user-friendly. An elk fence surrounds portions of the river to preserve habitat, and moose are occasionally spotted in the area. A bull paddock is present on the property, but livestock are securely fenced and do not have access to the river. Please note: dogs must remain under control at all times and are not permitted to chase livestock.
As part of Infinite Outdoors’ “Access Granted” program, this property allows outdoor enthusiasts to explore a stunning stretch of river. Through a simple reservation process and active Access Membership, guests can enjoy premium opportunities for fishing all while helping to support responsible land use and conservation efforts. Please note: overnight camping is not permitted on this property. All access is contingent upon prior reservation through the Infinite Outdoors platform, and each individual must be listed in the reservation to avoid trespassing issues. Use of the Infinite Outdoors mobile app is highly recommended for accurate navigation, entry points, and boundary information to help guests stay within permitted areas and comply with all property guidelines.
During part of the year this property lies within a Block Management Area that allows public access for hunting. If using this property from September through January please sign in at the BMA box.
Through this collaboration between Infinite Outdoors and private landowners, the Access Granted program is opening new doors for responsible outdoor recreation, promoting access to otherwise hard-to-reach natural areas, while maintaining respect for the land and its resources.
The Clark Fork River Headwaters is a technical and rewarding fishery for anglers willing to put in the effort. This upper stretch of river is narrower—roughly 10 yards wide—and best fished by targeting deeper holes and riffles that flow into oxygen-rich pools. While the fish density here is lower than other sections of the Clark Fork, the size and quality of the fish more than make up for it. Brown trout over 24 inches have been landed in this stretch, along with Rainbow Trout, Westslope Cutthroat, Whitefish, Longnose Suckers, and the occasional Bull Trout or Pikeminnow. Small nymphs in the #18–#20 range—especially midges, baetis, and mayfly imitations—are consistent producers throughout the year. Seasonal hatches include grasshoppers, craneflies, drakes, stoneflies, and caddis, with streamer fishing being particularly effective during overcast spring and fall days. This is not a numbers fishery, but a place to test your skills and possibly land a true trophy trout in a remote and pristine setting.
Infinite Outdoors is a technology platform that provides landowners with the ability to list their properties for recreational use and manage them in a conservation minded way. Infinite Outdoors is primarily dedicated to DIY Hunting and Angling, it is the angler's responsibility to be aware of weather, water flow, and river conditions. It is the angler's responsibility to verify current conditions prior to arrival. Landowner calendars may show availability even when conditions are not favorable for fishing. In such cases, it is the angler's responsibility to check all local rules, regulations, and closures before fishing. Please review the Fishing Information tab for details that may assist in planning your trip. During warmer periods of the year, anglers are advised that early morning fishing generally provides the most favorable conditions.
Please note, Under the Montana Stream Access Law, the public may use rivers and streams for recreational purposes up to the ordinary high-water mark. Use of this Access Granted Property provides for easier access and parking outside of the public right of way.
