Rhody Creek offers archery and muzzleloader deer hunting on 67 private acres of Upper Peninsula big woods near Grand Marais, Michigan. The property sits in Alger County in Michigan's Deer Zone 1, off the Rhody Creek Truck Trail in the Lake Superior State Forest region, where whitetails live in thick cover and see very little pressure.
This is classic U.P. ground: dense pine, glacial ridges, and swampy bottoms along Rhody Creek. Deer bed in the thick stuff and travel the ridge edges and creek bottom, which sets up close, quiet bow shots. Big woods deer numbers run lower than farm country, and the trade is a real chance at a mature buck that has not been pushed around.
You will have the woods to yourself. Rhody Creek books one party of up to two hunters at a time, so the blinds are yours for your whole stay. Two ground blinds are already in place, tree blinds are available. Park anywhere along the Rhody Creek Truck Trail, hunt the east side of the road, and plan to bring your deer out by backpack or sled.
Each booking covers 5 days during either archery segment or the short Upper Peninsula muzzleloader season in December. Michigan deer licenses are sold over the counter, so there is no draw to wait on. Grand Marais is the closest town for lodging, food, and fuel. michigan.gov/deer
Upper Peninsula big woods hold deer at lower densities than farm country, so success comes from reading cover and staying patient. At Rhody Creek, pine stands and swampy bottomland along the creek give deer security cover, while the glacial ridges form natural travel lines between bedding and feeding areas. Early archery season catches deer on steady patterns, rut activity builds from late October into November, and the late archery segment and December muzzleloader hunt reward hunters who key on thermal cover and food once snow arrives.
After your hunt, you will be sent an automated Harvest Report. To assist Infinite Outdoors in maintaining the quality of properties, and to continue to put conservation at the forefront, we require that the harvest report be completely filled out and returned. Failure to fill out the harvest report within 2 weeks of the hunt taking place will result in a $25 fine. If you are unsuccessful in filling your tag, Infinite Outdoors still needs to have that information provided to them. This is how we make changes to future harvest quotas and continue to be the most well managed access and conservation platform in the country.
5-Day Hunt. By booking the first day of your hunt, you are automatically booked for the following 4 days as well.
