Elk hunting in Nebraska is restricted to Nebraska residents only, so please make sure you meet that requirement before booking this hunt. Here at Lazy JF, we've got just over 1,900 acres of private ground right outside Crawford, Nebraska, sitting within Unit 1 for Nebraska elk hunting - so double check state regulations specific to this unit before you head out. This listing is for bull elk only; if you're after a cow, we've got a separate listing for that on Infinite Outdoors. We welcome hunters using archery gear, rifle, or muzzleloader alike. We don't have any blinds or tree stands on site, but there's plenty of room for you to bring your own non-permanent setup, just make sure it comes down before you head home. Keep in mind this is a working cattle operation, so you may see farm activity going on during your stay - we'll do what we can to steer clear of your hunting grounds, but it's worth knowing ahead of time. There's no lodging or camping available on the property itself, but Crawford is just a 5-minute drive away, making it easy to find somewhere close to stay for the length of your hunt.
Lazy JF sits in Unit 1 of Nebraska's elk range, an area that aligns with historic elk use and numbers, and where quality has remained consistent throughout previous years. Trophy potential here is real - bulls in the 350-plus range are well within the scope of possibility.
The elk here make heavy use of the cover along Little Cottonwood Creek, following the corridor for both bedding security and easy movement. When they're ready to feed, the multiple on-site food sources like alfalfa give them reliable, high quality food right on the farm. Lazy JF sits just a few miles from national forest and state park land, where the terrain shifts to steeper pine ridges and darker timber - classic elk country. They will push down from the hilly terrain for easy feeding and convenient bedding. We find elk in large numbers in this region of Nebraska, with bulls consistently exceeding expectations.
