4500 ftD3 Sandhills is a 5,500+ acre ranch located in Unit 101 north of Cope, Colorado that offers a true DIY mule deer hunting opportunity set in the rolling sandhills of eastern Colorado. Lodging is not included and camping is not permitted on the property, with the nearest accommodations available in towns such as Akron, Yuma, or Wray, approximately 40 miles to the northeast. The ranch features established 2-track roads that provide access throughout much of the property; however, due to the sandy soils and variable conditions common in this region, 4WD vehicles are strongly recommended - especially during late-season hunts when winter moisture can quickly change travel conditions. All vehicle travel must remain on existing tracks, and off-roading or creating new trails is strictly prohibited and subject to fines. There may be cattle on the property during your hunt - this will not impact your access or ability to hunt, but please ensure all gates are left as you found them, and be sure of your target! Landowner vouchers may be available depending on the year, though hunters should understand that Unit 101 operates on a limited quota system and landowner tag allocations are typically competitive and difficult to draw.
This ranch sits in classic Colorado sandhill mule deer country and is set up almost entirely for mule deer. The rolling dunes, native shortgrass prairie, scattered sage, and yucca create open ground where deer rely on terrain and wind to survive. The folds and ridgelines form natural bedding pockets on the downwind sides of hills, allowing deer to stay out of the wind while still watching large stretches of country. Bucks commonly bed along ridge tops or just below the crest, especially during rifle seasons when pressure increases. The open landscape makes glassing the primary strategy, with long sight lines that allow hunters to locate deer from a distance and then use low spots, and terrain breaks to move in for a stalk. What makes this property even stronger is its location - surrounded by irrigated crop circles and farm ground that provide consistent outside food sources. Deer will often travel between the native sandhills and nearby ag fields, especially during evening and early morning movement periods and during the rut. While whitetail can occasionally show up in this region, their presence on this property is rare and inconsistent; this is mule deer country, plain and simple. DIY hunt with no additional amenities provided.
Reservation fees are due at the time of booking, and are non-refundable. 50% of the outdoorsman fee will process 2 weeks after the draw results in this state are posted. If you are unsuccessful in the draw, reach out to IO and the situation will be handled accordingly. The remaining 50% will process 1 month prior to the hunt.
For big game adventures, cancellations made prior to placing a deposit will be handled immediately with no penalty. If a cancellation is requested after a deposit has been placed, Infinite Outdoors will make every effort to reschedule the hunt for a different season or a future year. Refunds are not guaranteed once a deposit has been placed.
If there is a lapse in availability, please do not be discouraged to reach out to IO. All calendars are set and managed by landowners, and unavailability is set by them. However, IO is willing to reach out on your behalf, to check on available dates. Other reasons for unavailable dates include biologist recommended hunter/harvest quotas that landowners implement, as well as state season dates not being released.
You are not legally allowed to access the property, for any adventure, prior to your selected access day. If you try to access the property at all before your selected date(s), without prior approval from IO, you will be subject to trespassing and punishments therein
