Notes from the landowner

Old Glory is a 300-plus acre private hunting tract sitting just north of the West Virginia state line in Spraggs, Pennsylvania. If you're going to be here for any stretch of the season, the rut is the time to do it.

We run a tight operation by design. No more than 3 hunters are in the field at any given time, which keeps pressure low and deer behavior natural. Groups of up to 6 are welcome as long as everyone knows each other. Every hunter gets 2 dedicated tree stands - 6 across the property in total - plus access to 2 ground blinds. Our setups are dialed in, but you're welcome to hang your own if that's your preference.

Trail cameras run constantly across the property, and we push updates to our Facebook page daily so you can watch what's happening on the ground before you ever make the drive out.

This listing is built specifically around the peak rut - a 14-day window during the heart of the breeding season when mature bucks are on their feet and actively seeking does. It's the most exciting and unpredictable time of year to be in a stand, and Old Glory's terrain is set up to take full advantage of it. Check the booking calendar for available dates. If you're looking for a pre-rut or post-rut hunt instead, we have a separate listing for that on the Infinite Outdoors site.

We're looking forward to hosting you!

Game and habitat information

Old Glory sits on 300-plus acres of southwest Pennsylvania hill country, and during the peak rut, this terrain transforms into something every whitetail hunter dreams about. The same ridges, hollows, and creek drainages that hold deer throughout the season become active runways when bucks are on their feet and covering ground. Scrape lines light up along the timber edges, does are pushed through the funnels, and mature bucks that were nearly nocturnal just weeks earlier are suddenly moving in daylight.

Food plots still play a role, but during the peak rut the script flips - does are the draw, and bucks will follow them anywhere. Old Glory's mix of bedding cover, travel corridors, and open feeding areas creates the kind of dynamic that keeps deer interaction high and hunters on the edge of their seats.

Our trail cameras have documented mature bucks on this property season after season, and the rut is when those giants make mistakes. This is the time of year when a shooter can show up out of nowhere.

The regional population supports it all. Pennsylvania's whitetail herd sits at an estimated 1.5 million deer statewide, and WMU 2A - where Old Glory is located - is one of the few units in the state where the Game Commission confirms the population is actively growing. More deer means more rut activity, more competition between bucks, and more opportunities for hunters willing to put in the time.
