Notes from the landowner

Saba Springs Ranch sits along the San Saba River in the heart of Texas hill country, where live oak mottes and river-bottom hardwoods make ideal roosting cover for Rio Grande turkey. This is a two-day hunt, and it's built around sitting and watching rather than chasing — you'll hunt from one of the ranch's box, tree, or ground blinds set over feeders, giving you a comfortable, low-disturbance vantage on birds moving between roost and feed.
We run both a spring and a fall season here, so there's flexibility if one window doesn't fit your schedule. Either way, the river corridor keeps water reliable year-round, which keeps birds using the property consistently rather than pushing through and out.. Hunters will still need a valid Texas hunting license.
*Campfires are prohibited on this property.

Game and habitat information

Rio Grande turkey key in on exactly the mix this property offers: tall roost trees along the river, open pasture and ag edges to feed in during the day, and thick brush nearby for loafing and security cover. The San Saba River corridor is the anchor — reliable water is often the limiting factor for turkey in this part of the hill country, and having it on-property year-round is a real advantage for both the spring and fall seasons.
The ranch's two-parcel layout also means birds have room to disperse and re-settle between hunts, and the mandatory two-day rest period between bookings on a given parcel helps keep pressure low and behavior natural rather than pushed.
