La Bonte Creek provides an opportunity for DIY waterfowl hunting on a small tributary that branches off of the North Platte River, south of Douglas Wyoming. This listing is designed to provide a spot that hunters can set up a decoy spread and blind, and stay in one location during their hunt. For any hunters who would prefer to hunt this small creek on the move, please use the La Bonte Creek Jump Shoot listing on the IO platform. This property is fully DIY, meaning there will be no blind or pit provided for your hunt. You may bring your own a-frame or layout blinds or make use of the ample cover along the bank of the creek. This specific property listing provides access to an area of the creek that is much more open, without tall timber lining the water on both sides, which will allow for better line of sight and open shooting lanes for birds that are working the area. There will be roughly a 200-yard walk from the parking location to the hunting area, so hunters be prepared to haul gear - it is an easy, flat terrain walk, where a wagon or sled can be used to haul equipment in. There will be absolutely no driving in the planted fields, so please respect landowner wishes to walk in and out.
La Bonte Creek offers extremely tight water, reaching roughly 10 yards across at its widest point. Much of the creek is lined with tall trees, which can make hunting slightly more challenging and may limit birds’ ability to circle and commit easily. Despite this, the area still attracts both ducks and dark geese. This listing provides access to a more open stretch of the creek where a shallow pool forms from a backwater eddy. The surrounding bank offers thick natural cover, allowing hunters to tuck into an effective natural blind. In addition, the location sits directly adjacent to a planted oat field that runs up to the creek’s edge. This creates an excellent opportunity to place decoys both on the water and in the field, increasing visibility and drawing birds from the air.
Reservation fees are due at the time of booking and are non-refundable. Outdoorsman fees will automatically process 48 hours prior to the adventure - it is the responsibility of the party organizer to ensure each hunter is added to the guest list prior to 48 hours so charges may process accordingly.
For waterfowl, fishing, and other small game adventures, cancellations made 48 hours or more prior to the scheduled adventure will not be charged. Cancellations made within 48 hours of the adventure will be charged the full outdoorsman fee.
If there is a lapse in availability, please do not be discouraged to reach out to IO. All calendars are set and managed by landowners, and unavailability is set by them. However, IO is willing to reach out on your behalf, to check on available dates. Other reasons for unavailable dates include biologist recommended hunter/harvest quotas that landowners implement, as well as state season dates not being released.
You are not legally allowed to access the property, for any adventure, prior to your selected access day. If you try to access the property at all before your selected date(s), without prior approval from IO, you will be subject to trespassing and punishments therein.
