Notes from the landowner

Massive Mountain is a DIY elk hunting property just southwest of Leadville in GMU 48. This 120-acre property sits along the Arkansas River near Leadville, Colorado, and has been in the same family for four generations. It's an easy hunt by mountain-property standards; low elevation, minimal hiking, and a layout that makes for a comfortable, high-percentage elk experience rather than a grueling backcountry pursuit. A hay field runs behind the house, and the river corridor below it is lined with willows that give elk excellent bedding and escape cover right on the property. Elk are present here nearly year-round, typically from April through November, and in recent years have lingered as late as January. The landowner has hunted this ground closely for years and has it well dialed in, most seasons produce a realistic opportunity at one or two bulls. Because access is easy and the terrain forgiving, this property is a strong fit for hunters who want a genuine elk opportunity without demanding physical terrain; including wheelchair-bound, disabled, and wounded warrior or hero hunters, who the landowner is especially glad to hostDue to this being a DIY hunt, hunters will be expected to provide all of their own gear, licensing, and pack-out services.

Game and habitat information

Elk hunting in GMU 48 is an extremely sought after adventure. Elk populations in this region of Colorado are healthy and thriving, due to the ideal habitat available to them. The property's habitat mix of irrigated hay field, willow-lined river bottom, and low-elevation valley terrain keeps elk resident on or near the ground for most of the year rather than passing through only during migration. The willow corridor along the river provides secure bedding and escape cover directly adjacent to the hay field's forage, which is a strong combination for holding elk through both archery and rifle seasons.

Harvest Reports

After your hunt, you will be sent an automated Harvest Report. To assist Infinite Outdoors in maintaining the quality of properties - and continue to put conservation at the forefront - we require that the harvest report be completely filled out and returned. Failure to fill out the harvest report within 2 weeks of the hunt taking place will result in a $25 fine. If you are unsuccessful in filling your tag, Infinite Outdoors still needs to have that information provided to them. This is how we will make changes to future year's harvest quotas and continue to be the most well managed access and conservation platform in the country.

Access Duration

5-Day Hunt. By booking the first day of your adventure, you're automatically booked for the following 4 as well.

Payment Process

Reservation fees are due at the time of booking, and are non-refundable. 50% of the outdoorsman fee will process 2 weeks after the draw results in this state are posted. If you are unsuccessful in the draw, reach out to IO and the situation will be handled accordingly. The remaining 50% will process 1 month prior to the hunt.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations made prior to placing a deposit will be taken care of immediately. Any cancellations needing made after placing a deposit will result in attempts to reschedule the hunt for a different season, or a different year. Please note that refunds are not guaranteed.

Availability

If there is a lapse in availability, please do not be discouraged to reach out to IO. All calendars are set and managed by landowners, and unavailability is set by them. However, IO is willing to reach out on your behalf, to check on available dates.
