East Buffalo is a DIY pronghorn hunt on just over 4,000 acres of private property - aptly named, it resides just east of Buffalo, WY in hunt area 16. This package is for a buck hunt only, so if you're interested in a doe hunt, you can find it on a separate listing here on the IO website. Our property borders approximately 1,500 acres of difficult (not impossible) to access BLM and WY State land to the east, as well as 2,700+ acres of easily accessible BLM to the west. Hunting pressure on the surrounding public land tends to work in hunters' favor here, pushing game toward the private boundaries and keeping good numbers of animals on the property. Access throughout the ranch is very convenient - ranch roads are drivable with a good 4WD vehicle and also allow hunters to reach the eastern BLM without a lengthy hike in. If conditions are wet, we ask that you refrain from driving the ranch roads until they dry out. Off-roading is not permitted on the property - if you harvest an animal, we ask that you pack it out on foot to the nearest ranch road, then retrieve it with your vehicle. Camping is not allowed on the property, but Buffalo is less than 15 miles away and offers a good selection of lodging and camping options for the duration of your hunt.
Wyoming is home to the largest pronghorn population in North America and consistently leads in number of record-book animals harvested. Statewide, an estimated 320,000 animals are currently roaming the state. Northeastern Wyoming, including the area around Buffalo, was largely buffered from the worst of the winter impacts that hit western parts of the state, so local herds have remained relatively stable and healthy. This property is made up of classic Wyoming pronghorn country -rolling sagebrush, open grasslands, and broken terrain east of the Bighorn Mountains. The mix of native grasses, forbs, and sagebrush across the property provides excellent year-round forage, and water sources like stock tanks and a creek keep animals from having to travel far for everything they need. Trophy potential in this part of Wyoming is real - mature bucks in eastern Wyoming's sagebrush prairies regularly carry horns in the 13-inch range and reach 70 inches or better, and exceptional animals pushing the upper 70s and lower 80s are not uncommon on well-managed private ground. As this is a mildly difficult tag to draw for non-residents, this property is not hunted hard and has potential for very quality bucks to be taken each year.
Reservation fees are due at the time of booking and are non-refundable. 50% of the outdoorsman fee will process 2 weeks after the draw results in this state are posted, or immediately upon booking if the reservation is made after draw results post.
For big game adventures, cancellations made prior to placing a deposit will be handled immediately with no penalty. If a cancellation is requested after a deposit has been placed, Infinite Outdoors will make every effort to reschedule the hunt for a different season or a future year. If there is a lapse in availability, please do not be discouraged to reach out to IO. All calendars are set and managed by landowners, and unavailability is set by them. However, IO is willing to reach out on your behalf, to check on available dates. Other reasons for unavailable dates include biologist recommended hunter/harvest quotas that landowners implement, as well as state season dates not being released.
