Notes from the landowner

Enjoy 1 mile of the Colorado River with runs that dump into deep pools holding large brown trout. The best fishing is near the confluence where the creek meets the river. This property provides stunning red cliff views that include two pairs of nesting bald eagles. Fish range in the 12-22″ range. The walking access is fairly easy for younger anglers and people with mobility issues. There are some willows near the riverbank but they’re not difficult to navigate.

Due to livestock and other concerns, dogs and other pets are NOT permitted on this property.

The property is beautiful and a cool stretch of the Colorado. It's easy to find and the ranch manager Rick was very helpful. Unfortunately, we did not catch any fish. Floaters we talked to said they had also had a slow day. From what I could tell, there wasn't a water clarity or CFS issue, so our lack of success likely has more to do with skill (or lack thereof). I did take my 7 y/o son with me. It was easy to fish Rock Creek with him, but we never saw a fish in that water. The Colorado is big water, so not ideal for a kiddo.

Overall, the Colorado river in this area was running relatively clear, but rock creek which dumps in at the top of the property was very off color so effecting this mile section. Visibility was about 2 ft. Caught some nice fish but it took a lot of casts with brightly colored nymphs and streamers. This property may need to rest a while as the weather warms.

Fished this property on 10/22. The day started off cold and with a dense layer of fog along the river valley. I landed a nice 12" brown early on but that turned out to be the only fish of the day. There was no visible hatch and never observed any rises. Great day on the water nevertheless less, saw 2 bald eagles. The entrance is hard to spot as there are signs missing at the entrance and upper parking area. Looking forward to trying it again.
