Located just outside of Del Norte, Colorado, this stretch is ideal for wade fishing and can also accommodate drift boats and rafts. One of the standout features of this property is the direct drive-up river access, making it a great option for anglers who prefer to keep the hike short - you can pull right up to the water and get your line in without a long walk. Please note that this property is restricted to fly fishing only, barbless hooks only, and enforces a strict catch-and-release policy. When you're done on the water, the ranch's riverfront setting and the charming town of Del Norte are right at your doorstep, with great food, drink, and plenty of local attractions in the San Luis Valley to round out your day. Tin Cup also offers onsite cabins, an open-air pavilion, overlanding recommendations, and event spaces for those looking to extend their trip - all lodging and overnight stays are booked through a separate platform, so be sure to check the FAQs below for directions on how to book.
This private stretch of the North Channel of the Rio Grande offers classic high-desert river habitat in the heart of the San Luis Valley, featuring a diverse mix of riffles, runs, and slower pools that create ideal holding water for trout year-round. Mature cottonwoods line the banks, providing shade and a steady supply of terrestrial insects throughout the warmer months, while exposed rock structure and varied current seams give wade anglers and float fishermen alike plenty of productive water to work. The fishery holds a healthy mix of brown trout, rainbow trout, and cutthroat trout, with the river periodically supplemented with fish throughout the season to maintain quality angling. The channel width and depth make it well-suited for both wading and floating, with clear sight lines and open casting lanes that are approachable for anglers of all skill levels. Whether you're nymphing the deeper runs, swinging streamers through the riffles, or targeting rising fish during a hatch, this stretch of the Rio Grande offers a well-rounded and scenic fly-fishing experience from spring through fall.
