Rhody Creek offers coyote hunting on 67 private acres of Upper Peninsula big woods near Grand Marais, Michigan. The property is in Alger County, off the Rhody Creek Truck Trail in the Lake Superior State Forest region, and Michigan keeps coyote hunting open through the year, so this is a hunt you can book in almost any month.
Coyotes are year-round residents here, working the edges of the dense pine, the glacial ridges, and the swampy bottoms along Rhody Creek. In big woods country a good call carries, and coyotes often slip in close through the cover before they show. Winter adds snow for reading tracks and fresh sign.
One party of up to two hunters has the property at a time, so you will not share the woods. Hunt with a rifle, shotgun, or bow, and set up along the creek corridor or the ridge edges. Park anywhere along the Rhody Creek Truck Trail and hunt on foot on the east side of the road.
Each booking is a 2-day hunt. Michigan residents need a base license; nonresidents need a base license and a fur harvester license. Grand Marais is the closest town for lodging and food.
Upper Peninsula coyotes range widely and lean on deer, snowshoe hare, and small mammals, especially through winter. The mix of thick pine, ridge edges, and creek-bottom swamp at Rhody Creek creates natural travel corridors where coyotes hunt and move. Winter and late winter, when snow cover shows tracks and coyotes pair up ahead of breeding season, are classic times to call.
2-Day Hunt. By booking the first day of your hunt, you are automatically booked for the following day as well.
Michigan coyote hunting is open through the year under two seasons: a fall and winter hunting season and a spring and summer management season. Hunting coyotes with dogs is not allowed from mid-April to early July. Check current rules at michigan.gov/dnr.
No application needed. Michigan residents need a base license. Nonresidents need a base license and a fur harvester license, buy online at michigan.gov/dnrlicenses, in the Michigan DNR Hunt Fish app, or from any license agent. Hunter education is required for hunters born on or after January 1, 1960.
Reservation fees are due at the time of booking and are non-refundable. 100% of the outdoorsman fee will process 14 days prior to the hunt.
