Lost Creek Ridge offers 116 acres of private spring turkey hunting in the Ned and Lost Creek area of Breathitt County, Kentucky. This is mountain turkey hunting in the ridge and hollow country of eastern Kentucky, a short drive from Hazard.
The property is steep Appalachian hardwood ground with ridgetops, timbered benches, and drainages dropping into the hollows. That layout is built for spring hunting: gobblers sound off from roost trees on the slopes, and the ridges and benches give you room to listen at first light, close the distance, and set up on a bird
One party of up to two hunters has the place at a time, so the birds you hear are yours to work. The 116 acres are split into two tracts of 98 and 18 acres, each with a designated parking spot. ATVs are permitted on approved routes, and you may bring a portable blind. Shotgun, archery, and crossbow are all legal for spring turkey in Kentucky.
Spring turkey permits are sold over the counter, with no draw needed. Kentucky allows two bearded birds per spring season, one per day. Hunts run two days, priced per hunter, with lodging and food in Hazard.
Wild turkeys in the eastern Kentucky mountains roost in big hardwoods on the slopes and ridges, then work the benches, ridgetops, and hollow bottoms through the day. Steep ground carries sound, so a gobble from one ridge can be heard across the hollow. That helps you locate birds early and plan an approach before fly down. Single party access keeps calling pressure low all spring.
After your hunt, you will be sent an automated Harvest Report. To assist Infinite Outdoors in maintaining the quality of properties, and continue to put conservation at the forefront, we require that the harvest report be completely filled out and returned. Failure to fill out the harvest report within 2 weeks of the hunt taking place will result in a $25 fine. If you are unsuccessful in filling your tag, Infinite Outdoors still needs to have that information provided to them. This is how we will make changes to future year’s harvest quotas and continue to be the most well managed access and conservation platform in the country.
Kentucky's spring turkey season opens in April with a youth only weekend, followed by the general season that runs into May.
