1360 ft.Tucked away just north of Talmoon, MN, this 40-acre property is classic northwoods bear country. With a corner that touches Little Turtle Lake and a dense mix of aspen, spruce, and hardwoods, it offers the kind of thick, secluded cover that black bears prefer for bedding and travel. A recent harvest has encouraged fresh understory growth, creating excellent forage and edge habitat that draws bears in during the early fall. Visibility ranges from tight 50-yard lanes to the occasional 100-yard gap in the aspen, which is perfect for baited setups or still hunting. The thick timber and natural funnels make stand placement strategic and rewarding for those willing to scout. There are no stands or blinds on site, and permanent fixtures aren’t allowed, so you’ll need to bring your own portable stand or ground setup. For multi-day hunts, there’s a cleared spot available to park a camper right on the property. If you're looking for a remote, no-frills bear hunting spot with strong potential for close encounters, this property has what you’re after.
Minnesota’s black bear population is healthy, with an estimated 13,000–18,000 bears across the northern half of the state. The 2023 bear harvest topped 1,800 bears and success rates in quota zones are strong, at around 50%, which speaks to the quality of hunting in these woods. Itasca County sits squarely in the heart of bear country, and when natural food sources like berries or mast are in short supply, bears in this area become even more predictable around bait. The layout of this property allows for quiet access and smart bait placement along natural travel corridors. For those who enjoy a traditional, deep-woods bear hunt with high reward potential, this spot offers a serious opportunity.
After your hunt, you will be sent an automated Harvest Report. To assist Infinite Outdoors in maintaining the quality of properties - and continue to put conservation at the forefront - we require that the harvest report be completely filled out and returned. Failure to fill out the harvest report within 2 weeks of the hunt taking place will result in a $25 fine. If you are unsuccessful in filling your tag, Infinite Outdoors still needs to have that information provided to them. This is how we will make changes to future year's harvest quotas and continue to be the most well managed access and conservation platform in the country.
5 Day Hunt. By booking the first day of your adventure, you are automatically booking the following 4 as well. The reservation will be for the entire timeframe, and your entire group.
Reservation fees are due at the time of booking, and are non-refundable. 50% of the outdoorsman fee will process 2 weeks after the draw results in this state are posted. If you are unsuccessful in the draw, reach out to IO and the situation will be handled accordingly. The remaining 50% will process 1 month prior to the hunt.
Cancellations made prior to placing a deposit will be taken care of immediately. Any cancellations needing made after placing a deposit will result in attempts to reschedule the hunt for a different season, or a different year. Please note that refunds are not guaranteed.
If there is a lapse in availability, please do not be discouraged to reach out to IO. All calendars are set and managed by landowners, and unavailability is set by them. However, IO is willing to reach out on your behalf, to check on available dates. Other reasons for unavailable dates include biologist recommended hunter/harvest quotas that landowners implement, as well as state season dates not being released.
You are not legally allowed to access the property, for any adventure, prior to your selected access day. If you try to access the property at all before your selected date(s), without prior approval from IO, you will be subject to trespassing and punishments therein.
