780Spotted Tail Farm includes 780 acres split between two separate parcels, located just a few miles north of the South Platte River near Mitchell, Nebraska. While there's no camping or lodging available on the land itself, overnight accommodations are easy to find in Mitchell or Scottsbluff, both of which are a short drive away. The property offers ample opportunity for both bow and shotgun turkey hunters, with enough room to spread out and make the most of your time in the field. Access is straightforward, with entry points found directly off public county roads. Hunters may responsibly park along the roadside, as long as they are not blocking traffic. All hunters must follow Nebraska state regulations for turkey hunting, provide their own valid hunting license, and bring their own blinds if they plan to use one. This is a practical and easy-to-navigate place to hunt, with the flexibility to create your own setup.
The acreage on this farm is split between two parcels, each offering a mix of irrigated cropland and native cover that promotes turkey habitat. The East Farm includes about 397 acres of irrigated alfalfa and corn, along with 200 acres of rolling hills covered in natural grasses, shrubs, and yucca. Spotted Tail Creek cuts through this section from northeast to southwest, providing a steady water source and helping create a natural travel corridor that birds like to use. The West Farm has around 125 acres of irrigated corn, with another 60 acres made up of low, rolling hills with similar native vegetation. Across this part of western Nebraska, turkey hunters are most likely to encounter Merriam’s turkeys, known for their white-tipped tail feathers and tendency to favor open country and wooded draws. Due to the overlap in ranges, it’s also possible to come across Rio Grande turkeys as well as hybrids in this area. While turkey numbers across the state have declined some in the last decade or so, populations around the Nebraska Panhandle—including near Mitchell—have remained fairly steady in recent years, providing reliable opportunities for hunters each spring.
1-Day hunt. If multi day hunts are desired, hunters will have to book their days individually.
