Mule DeerLimestone Creek is a DIY mule deer property north of Hasty, Colorado in GMU 126. This property offers over 2,200 acres of private land for 5-day hunts. Hunters take note - this property does offer access to a few thousand acres of property to hunt - however, only 320 acres or so would be considered quality mule deer habitat. The majority of terrain is more suitable towards antelope populations. Read more about this in the game and habitat section. Limestone Creek is comprised entirely of private land but also borders publicly accessible state land which can be hunted during your adventure. Please ensure you take notice of the hunting boundaries provided in the Infinite Outdoors app, as there are also several inaccessible State Trust Land pieces in the area that may not be used during your hunt. All accessible acreage will be outlined clearly in the IO mobile app. This property is part of an active cattle operation and can be subject to cattle activity at any time. Expect to be stopped by landowners or ranch hands to provide proof of your permission to be on the property. This hunt will be spot and stalk method of hunting, driving in and out will only be permitted on existing tracks. Hunters will be required to provide their own licensing and must abide by all state of Colorado rules and regulations.
This property encompasses roughly 2,200 acres in Colorado’s northeastern plains, though mule deer activity is primarily concentrated in a much smaller portion of the ranch. Approximately 320 acres provide the type of habitat deer tend to rely on most consistently, centered around a shallow canyon carved by a natural spring that forms Limestone Creek. As the terrain drops toward the creek bottom, vegetation becomes noticeably thicker and more diverse, creating pockets of cover, small crevices, and terrain breaks that mule deer use for bedding, security, and daytime loafing. A handful of scattered trees and the increased moisture along the creek further improve the habitat, offering shade, screening cover, and natural travel routes through the canyon. Outside of this drainage, the remainder of the property transitions into more open pasture and sage flats that are better suited for species like pronghorn. Mule deer will occasionally travel across these open sections - especially while moving between feeding areas - but they generally do not use these exposed portions of the ranch for bedding or extended daytime use. Because the suitable deer habitat is relatively limited and localized to the canyon system, the resident deer population is typically confined to this smaller area. For that reason, hunting opportunities are intentionally kept limited to maintain the quality of the experience and avoid over-pressuring the deer that use the property. In most seasons, this results in only a very small number of mule deer hunts being offered, typically allowing for one buck opportunity and one doe hunt per year.
Reservation fees are due at the time of booking, and are non-refundable. 50% of the outdoorsman fee will process 2 weeks after the draw results in this state are posted. If you are unsuccessful in the draw, reach out to IO and the situation will be handled accordingly. The remaining 50% will process 1 month prior to the hunt.
For big game adventures, cancellations made prior to placing a deposit will be handled immediately with no penalty. If a cancellation is requested after a deposit has been placed, Infinite Outdoors will make every effort to reschedule the hunt for a different season or a future year. Refunds are not guaranteed once a deposit has been placed.
If there is a lapse in availability, please do not be discouraged to reach out to IO. All calendars are set and managed by landowners, and unavailability is set by them. However, IO is willing to reach out on your behalf, to check on available dates. Other reasons for unavailable dates include biologist recommended hunter/harvest quotas that landowners implement, as well as state season dates not being released.
You are not legally allowed to access the property, for any adventure, prior to your selected access day. If you try to access the property at all before your selected date(s), without prior approval from IO, you will be subject to trespassing and punishments therein.
