Cow ElkThis 520-acre property outside of Craig, Colorado offers a solid opportunity for cow elk hunters wanting to fill their freezers. Those who make a reservation on this property are limited to cow elk hunting only - if a bull elk or buck mule deer hunt is desired, please find a separate listing for that on the IO platform. This listing is solely meant for discounted cow elk hunts. Hunters booked here have full-season access, giving you the flexibility to hunt the property when conditions and timing are right. The exception here is for archery elk hunts, which will limit hunters to 7-day timeframes on the property. Adventurers are welcome to use the established two-tracks for access, but please avoid driving them during wet conditions, as the roads can quickly become muddy and rutted. For added convenience, the property includes an RV electrical hookup and a clean outhouse, ideal for extended stays during the colder late season. Tent camping is also allowed, but Leave No Trace laws will be in place, and violations will result in a monetary fine. If you're looking for a quiet, low-pressure spot with growing elk activity in the later months, this property is perfect for you.
Set at just under 7,000 feet, this property offers classic high-desert steppe habitat; sagebrush flats, native grasses, and broken terrain with ridges, draws, and a few steeper pockets that can hold elk. While elk sightings are less consistent earlier in the year, small groups begin showing up on the property sporadically throughout September and in early October, and tend to increase in number as the seasons progress. Consistent hunting pressure on neighboring properties plays a large role in pushing game around the area. By December, cow elk are often still present, making this a promising spot for those holding a late-season cow tag. The land features three year-round ponds that provide consistent water, and additional improvements are underway to expand water availability during the dry summer and fall months. With only about 350 feet of elevation change across the property, the ground is manageable, but not without its challenges. Staying on the main ridge road can offer an easier hunt, while pushing into the drainages or side hills can take more effort, but often opens the door to better encounters. It’s a smart option for cow elk hunters who understand how pressure shifts herds and are willing to cover some ground when it counts.
After your hunt, you will be sent an automated Harvest Report. To assist Infinite Outdoors in maintaining the quality of properties - and continue to put conservation at the forefront - we require that the harvest report be completely filled out and returned. Failure to fill out the harvest report within 2 weeks of the hunt taking place will result in a $25 fine. If you are unsuccessful in filling your tag, Infinite Outdoors still needs to have that information provided to them. This is how we will make changes to future year's harvest quotas and continue to be the most well managed access and conservation platform in the country.
A booking on this property is valid for the entire season. So, it can be a 5-day or a 7-day hunt depending on the season you choose to book. During archery season, hunts will be limited to 7 days.
Reservation fees are due at the time of booking, and are non-refundable. 50% of the outdoorsman fee will process 2 weeks after the draw results in this state are posted. If you are unsuccessful in the draw, reach out to IO and the situation will be handled accordingly. The remaining 50% will process 1 month prior to the hunt.
Cancellations made prior to placing a deposit will be taken care of immediately. Any cancellations needing made after placing a deposit will result in attempts to reschedule the hunt for a different season, or a different year. Please note that refunds are not guaranteed.
If there is a lapse in availability, please do not be discouraged to reach out to IO. All calendars are set and managed by landowners, and unavailability is set by them. However, IO is willing to reach out on your behalf, to check on available dates. Other reasons for unavailable dates include biologist recommended hunter/harvest quotas that landowners implement, as well as state season dates not being released.
You are not legally allowed to access the property, for any adventure, prior to your selected access day. If you try to access the property at all before your selected date(s), without prior approval from IO, you will be subject to trespassing and punishments therein.
