Park County Elk is a DIY bull elk hunt just south of Jefferson, Colorado. This property sits right on the dividing line of GMU 50 and 501, so hunters should be aware of where their tag is valid - in this region, elk tags are valid for either GMU 50 or 501, not both, and this listing provides access in GMU 50.
Though only 130 acres of private property, Park County Elk also grants easy access to nearly 800 acres of BLM land. This public ground is technically accessible to anyone, but the nearest public access point is over a mile hike away - booking here puts you right at the doorstep of that additional acreage without the hassle. Michigan Creek runs through the property and acts as a natural dividing line between the main access point and the hill country beyond. A bridge is provided on site for those who'd rather not wade across - check the Infinite Outdoors map for the bridge location after booking. Camping is allowed on the property but is booked separately through HipCamp. See the FAQ's below for a direct link to make your camping reservation. We ask that once you're inside our property boundary, all access be done on foot. You may drive in, almost up to the bank of the river, and hike the rest of the way. Please treat our property with respect and enjoy your hunt.
GMU 50 sits in the South Park basin, a well-known elk corridor in central Colorado. Elk occupy all habitats and areas of the unit at some time of year, with the rut kicking off as early as the first week of September and running for roughly a month. South Park's mix of open meadows, timbered ridgelines, and mountain parks creates a natural funnel for elk movement throughout the season. Hunting pressure on the adjacent Pike National Forest to the north pushes elk off public ground and onto private land where food and water are more reliable - making properties like this one a natural refuge for bulls looking to escape pressure. Michigan Creek is the anchor of this property's elk habitat, providing a consistent water source that draws animals throughout all seasons. The transition from open valley floor to the broken hill country beyond the creek gives elk exactly what they need - water, feed, and bedding areas within a short distance of each other. This kind of terrain is where mature bulls tend to hang up once hunting pressure builds on public ground, making the private acreage here a significant advantage for a DIY hunter.
Reservation fees are due at the time of booking and are non-refundable. 50% of the outdoorsman fee will automatically process 2 weeks after Colorado Draw results post, or immediately upon booking if the reservation is made after draw results post. The remaining 50% will automatically process 1 month prior to the adventure.
For big game adventures, cancellations made prior to placing a deposit will be handled immediately with no penalty. If a cancellation is requested after a deposit has been placed, Infinite Outdoors will make every effort to reschedule the hunt for a different season or a future year. Refunds are not guaranteed once a deposit has been placed.
If there is a lapse in availability, please do not be discouraged to reach out to IO. All calendars are set and managed by landowners, and unavailability is set by them. However, IO is willing to reach out on your behalf, to check on available dates. Other reasons for unavailable dates include biologist recommended hunter/harvest quotas that landowners implement, as well as state season dates not being released.
You are not legally allowed to access the property, for any adventure, prior to your selected access day. If you try to access the property at all before your selected date(s), without prior approval from IO, you will be subject to trespassing and punishments therein.
After your hunt, you will be sent an automated Harvest Report. To assist Infinite Outdoors in maintaining the quality of properties - and continue to put conservation at the forefront - we require that the harvest report be completely filled out and returned. Failure to fill out the harvest report within 2 weeks of the hunt taking place will result in a $25 fine. If you are unsuccessful in filling your tag, Infinite Outdoors still needs to have that information provided to them. This is how we will make changes to future year's harvest quotas and continue to be the most well managed access and conservation platform in the country.
