Cross County is a DIY management mule deer buck hunt on roughly 6,400 acres of private land in Wyoming Area 26, just north of Buffalo. This is a management hunt, meaning we are specifically targeting bucks with poor genetics, non-typical antler characteristics, or animals that are on the decline - trophy class bucks are not eligible for harvest on this listing. A harvest report will be required following your hunt to document the animal taken. A unique aspect of our ranch is the access - because we share private roads with neighboring properties, all access in and out of the ranch must be accompanied by us. After you book, we will reach out directly and formulate a game plan to meet. Once on the property, it is our preference that you camp on site for the duration of the hunt to avoid daily trips in and out. There are plenty of quality spots to set up camp, and good enough roads to haul in a camper - though there are no camper hookups, so you'll want to bring your own water and plenty of it.
There are several ranch roads throughout the property that make it easy to move from one end to the other, but all hunting here is done on foot. We ask that you stick to existing paths and roads, as off-roading is not permitted. We do border just under 6,000 acres of BLM and Wyoming State ground that is otherwise inaccessible without permission through private property. That means hunting pressure around here is very minimal! The Infinite Outdoors app offers public land layers that you can turn on to see where our land stops and the public begins. Buffalo is only a few miles down the road if there are any emergencies or needs during your hunt. Here in Area 26, tags are easy to obtain for resident hunters as it is a general unit. We also fall in Region C for non-resident hunters, for which tags are limited but still quite easy to draw.
This ranch sits on both sides of the Sheridan and Johnson County lines, and offers a mix of open plains and rolling terrain that mule deer utilize throughout the season. The property transitions between native grassland and broken country with natural draws and sagebrush flats, giving deer both open feeding areas and protected corridors to move between. Among the most notable habitat features on this property are the number of water sources scattered throughout. Several stock tanks and larger natural watering holes are used all year by a number of game animals, but especially so during dry periods. Mule deer populations across Wyoming have faced trials and tribulations in recent years, with statewide harvest numbers declining and habitat challenges, harsh winters, and predation all contributing to the trend. This is precisely why management hunting plays an important role - by targeting bucks with poor genetics or animals that are past their prime, this hunt is designed to strengthen the overall health and genetic quality of the herd over time. We want to give mature, quality bucks the opportunity to reproduce and shape the gene pool going forward. The goal isn't just filling a tag; it's contributing to the long-term quality of the deer on this piece of ground.
Reservation fees are due at the time of booking and are non-refundable. 50% of the outdoorsman fee will process 2 weeks after the draw results in this state are posted, or immediately upon booking if the reservation is made after draw results post.
For big game adventures, cancellations made prior to placing a deposit will be handled immediately with no penalty. If a cancellation is requested after a deposit has been placed, Infinite Outdoors will make every effort to reschedule the hunt for a different season or a future year. Refunds are not guaranteed once a deposit has been placed.

However, IO is willing to reach out on your behalf, to check on available dates. Other reasons for unavailable dates include biologist recommended hunter/harvest quotas that landowners implement, as well as state season dates not being released.
