CentralBuckeye Birds #2 is a DIY waterfowl property north of Wellington, Colorado. Located in the Central Flyway, this area of Colorado is known for large migrations of Canada geese throughout the year. Along the front range, dark geese are highly sought after and therefore highly pressured in many areas. Buckeye Birds is unique in this case, because it has historically received very minimal hunting pressure. There are no provided blinds or pits on this property, so hunters will need to provide their own layout or A-frame blinds. Because this is an alfalfa field, additional brush to really beef up your hide is recommended! There won't be much tall cover to conceal in, so blend in the best you can. Access to the blind location here follows one path in and one path out - please do not take it upon yourself to drive through the field or any other areas other than what is shown in the IO app.
Buckeye Birds #2 will be an alfalfa field during the 2024/25 waterfowl season and will cater to dark geese more than any other species. Although, occasional snow geese can be found in this area due to abundant food and open water. Alfalfa can be a very popular food of choice for geese, especially, but not specifically, on bad weather days. Alfalfa is among one of the more popular crops in Northern Colorado for geese to utilize - at the top of the list with corn, wheat, and sunflowers. North of the property is the Rawhide Powerplant and cooling reservoir, that stays open all year-round. This means that there will always be an available roost within a few miles, and this field is among several that are the first thing feeding geese will see as they make their daily flights. Just south of the field is another small reservoir that when open, can act as another roost as well as a mid-day loafing location.
